Welcome to episode 218 of the Life Changing Questions Podcast. Today, we have Peter Sage. He's calling in all the way from the little island off of Africa called Tenerife. And Peter is an expert on human behavior. And he's widely recognized as the leading authority on effective personal transformation. His amazing book, which I read, is the Inside Track. He sold over 150,000 copies. He shared the stage with people like Sir Richard Branson, Kopfi Anan, Bill Clinton and many more. And Global Gurus rates him as one of the top 30 motivational speakers. And he's had the privilege of speaking for organizations like the UN, NASA, Google, many members of the Royalty, and many blue-chip companies. So Peter, I'm so very excited. Welcome to the show today.

What a great place to be. I'm excited too. I'm sure over the next little while, we're going to try to add as much value to people listening as possible. That's definitely my intention.
**Kevin Bees** (1:13)
I know we will. I have zero doubt in my mind. Now, the topic of the show is the life changing questions. And there was something in your book I picked up. You said, questions direct our focus and call upon the brain to do what it loves best and answer and give you the answer to any question. It will give you the answer to any question that you give it, which it will dutifully do. So I wonder for you, as we jump into that topic, we say on the show that the quality of the questions we ask ourselves truly impact the quality of our life. So I wonder what's one question you've asked has had the biggest positive impact on your life or the life of the clients that you've served over the years.
**Peter Sage** (1:45)
It's the context dependent, obviously. You are absolutely bang on with, questions are the steering wheel of the mind. And most people are driving down the highway of their life with their hands off the wheel, or letting other people direct which way their wheel turns and wonder why they don't end up where they want to be. And we hear a lot in today's world about AI and ChatGPT and the new term prompt engineering, which means that you will get out of that AI super brain to the extent that you can actually engineer the prompt effectively. Well, guess what? Your brain is better than ChatGPT, but most people have no idea how to do the prompt engineering for themselves, which is how do we ask ourselves the right question? And as I've said, like a faithful labrador, your brain will run off if you throw the stick, it will run off and fetch it back. Now, the challenge is most people are throwing pretty crappy sticks, and they wonder why their labrador brings it back and dumps this moldy wet soggy stick on their carpet, and then they don't get the result they want. So asking better questions is great. And I would go so far as to say, when answering the question, what's the one question?
Don't so much look at the time it's easy to ask or answer questions. And most people are very good at asking the right question when they're calm, when things are okay, you want to build the muscle of asking the question and answering the question when it's tough. So one of the best questions that you can start to ask is, for example, what's great about this I've not noticed yet. Now, that question applies when you're facing adversity, when you're facing something not fitting your pictures, when a curve ball comes out of left field. You have things going great, saying, oh, what's something I can be grateful for? That's easy. But doing it when all of a sudden, here, the car's juddering down the road, and you're not quite sure what's happening on the freeway of life. It's like, whoa, hang on a minute. That's the time to really focus on asking questions and building that muscle, building that skill. What's something great about this I've not noticed yet? What could I look back on six months from now and be grateful for in advance about this? Instead of saying, what have I lost, which is a stupid stick to throw for your labrador, you throw, what have I learned? When you start learning how to throw the right sticks, your life will absolutely transform.
