Through innovation, Venture Global is not only building some of the largest energy facilities in the world right here in the United States, but delivering American energy at a fraction of the cost and a fraction of the time. Good Monday morning, welcome to Squawk on the Street. I'm Carl Quintanilla with Sara Eisen, live at Post 9 at the New York Stock Exchange. Today, after a successful IPO launch and with SpaceX shares rallying yet again today, we're joined by one early backer, Peter Diamandis, about why he thinks the stock will replace Bitcoin as the go-to investment for free capital.
Sara Eisen (1:24)
Plus, Nvidia tapping the bond market for the first time in five years as it seeks to fund its massive capex required to produce cutting edge AI chips.
Carl Quintanilla (1:33)
Plus, expectations for G7, the presidents in Europe this morning are announcing a peace framework to wind down the war with Iran and what it might mean for the global economy and markets. Speaking of markets, got an all-time high on the Dow today. S&P is working on it, up 123 points. Obviously huge 2% gains in things like consumer discretionary and tech as energy is down 4% plus. And the 10-year gives us some relief, although not too far from 4.5.
Sara Eisen (1:58)
It's impressive to see that given all of the rumors and the rallies that we've seen into a deal that we got the deal and the market is still rallying on the news. I mean, we can we continue. It wasn't a buy. It wasn't a sell the news kind of event so far. What we're seeing we're buying with this with this rally. And part of it is the price of oil, which is coming down again down more than 5% on WTI. We're going to start there with this peace agreement for a deal to end the war with Iran and the move lower in oil prices, both Brent and WTI now at the lowest level since March. Let's bring in our Brian Sullivan, who joins us here at Post 9 It's good to have you here on a day like today.
So what are you what are you hearing?
Brian Sullivan (2:34)
Well, OK, I want to get to something that I think a lot of people are missing this morning. Something one reason why the markets are moving. But first, let's take a look at the price of oil. It's obviously down. OK, we hit 7840 one year ago today. We're at 7970 of the low trades, about a buck 30 off one year ago. We're 8049 right now down just over 5 percent. So not quite where we were a year ago, but we are creeping down. I expect gasoline nationally will probably go to 325 to 350 a gallon over the next couple of weeks. It's going to evolve. People say, how long is it going to take? I don't know. It's your local station. They got to get the oil, got to refine it, got to transport it. There you go. All right. Here's the critical thing.
I got to co-host Squawk Box this morning. We had JD Vance on, Vice President Vance as a guest.
And we asked him about who might be at the Friday deal signing.
Specifically, would Mohammed Ghalibaf be there? JD Vance, Vice President Vance said yes. Why is this important? Mohammed Ghalibaf is seen as a representative of the Ayatollah's regime. He is not part of the more moderate Peseshkian presidential regime. He's a hardliner. So the fact that Ghalibaf, Vice President Vance said, may be there, is probably giving the market an additional bid because that would be seen as basically an idea that even the hardliners might accept this deal. Ghalibaf effectively reports to the Ayatollah. All right, not just the current contracts that we're looking at. Take a look at the Ford oil contracts, talking about July, August, September, October. We're going down to $73 if you look out to November and December on the CME. The other big story here, will we get sanctions relief? Not just from the United States, as Vice President Vance said, you guys have talked about a lot of details to be worked out. Will Italy, will Germany, will France, will others ease some of their sanctions on Iran? And then the question for the oil market going forward, you guys, how fast can the Gulf States, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Qatar, how fast can they load oil? I talked to Marine Traffic this morning. They said there are 56 empty oil tankers floating around the Arabian Gulf this morning. So that's a lot.
