Oh, welcome to Syntax. It's Monday, and it's another Syntax Live. And today, let me tell you, is a massive show. We got a ton of really amazing stuff on the docket. For instance, Vercel just dropped something really neat, which we're gonna be talking about early. There's a whole ton of really cool little UI libraries.
There's a Rust compiler for React. Man, there's a lot of really, really cool stuff in here. In fact, we got a sneak peek at what SvelteKit 3 is going to look like, and the results of a Zen Garden, which might shock you, including also a new full stack framework from Rust. All of that and more, because there's a ton of new model releases as well on Syntax Live. It's a Rust-based compiler for React. It's a React-

The React Compiler is now ported to Rust. This is not absolutely new, but we haven't talked about it yet.
The React has this thing called a compiler, which is if you have used Use Effect or Memo or like... There's lots of parts of React where they can slow you down. And if you can do that at compile time instead of at runtime, there's a lot of things that can be sped up. And previously, this had been written as a Babel plugin in TypeScript, right? And people were kind of bummed that it was written in Babel, because your whole tool chain could be wicked fast, right? It could be written in all of these Rust-based tools, except if you wanted to use the Rust compiler, then you're out of luck. Or you had to at least introduce one step into your compile process that then went back to TypeScript or JavaScript.
So the porting of that from Babel and TypeScript has been ported to Rust now. And now things will be much faster, which is pretty exciting. There's not a ton to say about this, because it's one of those things where you just kind of turn it on, slap it in your application, and then you're in pretty good shape. But I'm excited to see it. I don't know what you guys think about this or not.

I was surprised when it was made with Babel in the first place. So for me, that was when it first dropped. It was already after Babel was like nobody was using it anymore. So when that was first dropped, I know it was for compatibility most likely, but it's like-

I think it was just for ease of authoring, because if you're writing an AST parser, which is basically Babel will take your JavaScript and explode it into an AST, and then you can sort of loop over it, go up and down the trees, find all of the use cases where you can possibly compile that into a build time thing rather than a runtime.
And I assume it was done because of that. It was the ease of use while they were trying to figure it out. It also was like, it was easy for anybody to get in there and to write some code. And now that they have it figured out, they always said from the get go, this is not going to be a Babble plugin forever. But now they've ported the whole thing to Rust, which seems to be the case for every single week. We say something has been ported to Rust. It's just hilarious.

The hilariousness of not being able to pronounce Babble or Babble or not know what it is, is hilarious because that's the whole story, is that people didn't know how to talk to each other because they were using different languages.
