The Pod of Greed

September 24, 2026

Well, Konami finally released the new banlist, but... it's not great. Paul and Alec discuss this, the new Genesys points update for Beyond the Brave, the Pokemon 30th anniversary scalper situation and violence at the recent Bandai Card Fest.

It's time to Puh-Puh-Puh-Puh-Puh-Puh-Pod.

Paul McGee (0:03)

Ooh, God, you struggled through that.

Alec Fields (0:06)

I didn't think the P's would be as hard as they are to do that way.

Paul McGee (0:10)

I think in the Yu-Gi-Oh theme, they definitely just edited the, did it, did it, did it, did it. Like, I don't think anyone actually was saying that.

Alec Fields (0:16)

I've never been able to replicate it, and with P's, it's even more terrible. But hey, guys, welcome back to The Pod of Greed.

Paul McGee (0:22)

Welcome back, indeed, guys. It's another week, and I have to say, this one is a jam-packed one.

Alec Fields (0:30)

Yeah, there's a lot.

Paul McGee (0:31)

There is a lot going on.

Alec Fields (0:32)

There's so much.

Paul McGee (0:32)

Right now, in the Yu-Gi-Oh space, and kind of just the trading card space.

Alec Fields (0:37)

Trading cards. I mean, we, you know, we usually get stories for The Pod. We kind of like, we gather like a few big stories, and then we kind of fill in. But our big stories were enough.

Paul McGee (0:48)

Yeah, there's a lot of Yu-Gi-Oh. We're gonna be talking about the new band list, and people's many different opinions on it. We've got some Beyond the Brave announcements. We've got a Genesys points update. There is some Pokémon scalper news.

Alec Fields (1:03)

Isn't there always?

Paul McGee (1:04)

A little bit of drama at Bondi Card Games Fest, and some new YouTube features that we have thoughts on.

So, it's gonna be a fun one. Before we get into all of it, thumbs up the video, of course.

Alec Fields (1:19)

Paul McGee (1:20)

Leave a comment, share it, ones in chat if you're in the YouTube premiere, of course.

Alec Fields (1:24)

And if you're on mobile, hype it up.

Paul McGee (1:26)

Yes, hype the video. It helps us a lot. Shares it with more people. We appreciate all of the viewership and listenership. It's really been increasing the last few weeks. We've gotten a lot more views.

Alec Fields (1:37)

That's not supposed to happen on podcasts.

Paul McGee (1:38)

Yeah, podcasts on often times grows, so all of it has been very helpful. Okay, I guess the best place to start would normally be The Band List, but we actually did something fun this weekend, and so I think we could recap that.

Alec Fields (1:51)

But yeah, we were in New York this past weekend for a 30th anniversary celebration put on by PSA, and what was the name of the card shop? The shop was Next Legacy Gaming. Yeah, Next Legacy Gaming. That was over in Manhattan in New York.

Paul McGee (2:06)

We got invited out to just sort of be one of the guests there. Dan Green and Darren Dunston, the voices of Yu-Gi-Oh and Pegasus respectively, were also there, and that was really cool.

Alec Fields (2:18)

They had people coming all day.

Paul McGee (2:20)

Yeah, they were signing things and taking pictures, and people really like those voice actors. It was a cool event, I have to say.

Alec Fields (2:29)

Yeah, I didn't know what to expect going into it.

We heard that this wasn't their typical Yu-Gi-Oh day, and the day started off kind of slow, so I was really thinking, it's like, oh, maybe this will just be, I'll take a nap or something. I thought it would be a real chill thing, and then it stopped being chill. I guess the Yu-Gi-Oh players and fans had to wake up because the shop was full for a while.

Paul McGee (2:56)

Yeah, it really picked up. So, I think that the idea was that for PSA, it was sort of a drop-off day where people could just drop off cards to get graded, which is cool and all, but also I think most people just came for Dan Green and Darren Dunstan, and they were doing some giveaways and stuff throughout the day as well.

Alec Fields (3:14)

They were, I was doing the giveaways. Yeah, Alec got to host the giveaways. Yeah, you know, I talk to a mic every week, multiple times a week, but holding a mic, that's a different feeling, man.

Paul McGee (3:26)

It is different to hold a mic.

Alec Fields (3:28)

That was something special. That was something special. I gave everybody a treat that day. You're welcome.

Paul McGee (3:33)

Shout out to anybody that we met there. There were some very cool fans. There was one guy who he'd bought a blind box, a Bear Walker blind box, and he pulled-

Alec Fields (3:42)

That's the skateboard people.
