Welcome to The Niche Is You. My name is Matt Gottesman, at Matt Gottesman on Instagram, and this is my daily podcast where I create short, quick hitting episodes to help you uncomplicate life, creativity, and the pursuit of your highest self. There's only main character energy here. Now let's get into it.
Welcome to episode 816, You Will Know Them By Their Fruit. You will know them by their fruit. Why what God built in someone is what you actually feel, not always what you see, right? Now I did a post on Instagram. I'm going to read this to you.
And I realized that in the Bible, we hear fruit as fruit of the spirit, naming love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, right? Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Now, how is that embodied? How is it integrated? How does it show up? So, this is something that I have had to learn professionally, personally, you know, if we pay attention to how people do things.
And you see posts like this on the line all the time. It says like, you know, the person who treated the janitor the same way as the CEO, whatever, right? It's like, you treat every single person with love, kindness, respect, patience, peace, right? Faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, all these things. Now, our actions show the embodiment of that, right? So, the post that I had put online, which I posted now twice, and I got great feedback, was, you will know them by their fruit. And fruit is not what most people think it is. It is not the car, the titles, the lifestyle they present to the world, how polished they look, or how impressive their words sound in public. Fruit is much quieter than that, and it's much harder to fake. Fruit is the way they pray over you when you're not even in the room. It's the way they cover you, not for credit or recognition, but because they understand that some things are sacred, and protection is a spiritual assignment. Think about this. This is praying peace over somebody. This is praying kindness over somebody. This is faithfulness. This is goodness, right? Right? See how it can come out in the way we do things? The second slide said, fruit is discernment. It's the ability to see things at levels most people don't operate from, to read a room without needing to be told, to sense what's off before the evidence shows up, to move with wisdom that wasn't learned from a book. It was lived. So when we think about learning to love is a very, you know, we're here to love. And, you know, sometimes people say, well, it's hard when someone does something wrong to you. I'm like, love is also honesty. It's not saying that you keep putting up with things, but it is, you know, there is discernment in that you're being honest and you're saying, oh, you know, here's a boundary. I'm loving you on it because I'm being honest about how I'm moving, right? And so if you think about it, like all these different ways of its ability to see things at levels most people don't operate from, well, in order to really have peace, you probably have to know what chaos is, and you have to be able to know how to recognize it. Do you see how like it does actually show up in our lived experience and learn behavior? Right, three, fruit is the way, and these are just the slides, not the actual points that we're going to get into. Fruit is the way they take themselves to God first, before the conversation, before the decision, before the reaction. They don't do it performatively nor publicly. Boom, that's faithfulness. They do it quietly, consistently as a way of life. Faithfulness, self-control, goodness, peace, patience, right? Fruit is how someone treats people who can offer them nothing in return. That's love. It's how they carry themselves when nobody is watching, how they respond when they're frustrated, and how they handle power without letting it distort them. Self-control, gentleness, faithfulness, goodness, kindness, patience, peace, joy, and love, all wrapped into that one, right? And I said, fruit is spiritual maturity that shows up in the way they move. Not just in the way they speak. Anyone can quote wisdom. We can all do that, but not everyone is living it. We have to learn how to embody it, right? Anyone can talk about God, but not everyone takes you to God by the way they carry themselves. See, the thing is, if you have your own relationship with yourself and how you are treating yourself and how you are doing things, that is also how you are supporting them and holding the container for them, right? No matter what type of relationship it is.
