Well, hello everybody and welcome to Wired In. I'm Cabot Phillips coming to you from DailyWire HQ on this beautiful Friday evening. We are now just 18 days out from the midterms and there is a lot to talk about. We've got an awesome panel lined up to debate where the winds are blowing and which races are going to define this cycle. We'll also hear directly from the campaign trail, one-on-one, with a man battling to hold the GOP majority, Kansas Senator Roger Marshall, and we'll have a little theology chat at the end with the legendary Frank Turek. I will also be dragging Michael Knowles in here to have a little Protestant vs. Catholic debate. I'm not actually doing that. Maybe one of these days. And of course, stick around until the end of the show for our live listener Q&A. If you're a Daily Wire member, get those questions in the chat right now. If you're on Apple or Spotify, make sure to sign up immediately at dailywire.com/subscribe. Not only will membership give you access to the live chat, you'll also get to watch the Daily Wire's newest upcoming film, Confession. Let's see if it appears on the screen. Confession. I'm going to keep saying that. I know they have a button in there. Confession. There it is. Starring Rob Lowe, James Franco, Nick Nolte, Jennifer Jason Lee, and more. Literally, this movie has seven Academy Award nominations on the cast and crew. Seven. I'm not going to shut up about it because this movie is the best thing we've ever made. But yeah, you'll also get to join the live chat if you sign up. As Thomas Jefferson famously wrote, Wired In without the live chat is like a tin pool without a beanie. I'll leave it there. Roll that graphic.
Just a reminder, Wired In is now streaming live at 4 PM Eastern, Monday through Friday. Get your daily coverage of the news happening right now. Hear why it all matters and talk with experts who are actually in the story. Become a member and join the live chat at dailywire.com/subscribe.
All right. Let's jump right in to our political panel. Today, we're joined by some of our favorite recurring guests, a trio of familiar faces for all of you here. We've got John Daniel Davidson, Senior Editor with The Federalist, Jesse Arm, VP of External Affairs at the Manhattan Institute, and Julian Epstein, former Democratic Strategist, and Chief Counsel for the House Judiciary Committee. Gentlemen, it's great to have all of you. We're going to jump around a good bit here, so feel free to take your time diving in on your answers and jump in if you want to respond to anybody.
I think to start, it's always helpful to have a little vibe check, just to see where everyone's at at the 18-day mark before midterms. John, let's start with you. What are you feeling about the state of the race?
John Daniel Davidson (3:47)
I feel an impending sense of doom.
I think that my sense is that it will go historically as it has gone for the party in power in the midterms. The Republicans will lose seats, they'll probably lose the House, and they may lose the Senate. But I think that if Democrats will gain seats, but if they underperform what they are projecting and the messaging that they're putting out there, then I think it may not be too bad when all is said and done for the GOP, if Democrats only pick up 20 seats, let's say.
