Hello everyone, welcome to this episode of Soul Searching with Chiquis, a space where we have conversations to better our mental health, to bring some light to sometimes our heavy hearts. And that also includes having conversations, just you and I, and sharing vulnerable topics.

And today, that's what I want to do. I want to talk about something that is very dear to my heart, and that is my Alma de Luz experience. So Alma de Luz, for those of you that may not know what this is, it started off as just an idea. I was trying to find a name for my new album, which is now named Janae. I was between Janae or Alma de Luz. I came up with Alma de Luz when I was praying and meditating on and about my album.

I'm like, what does my soul want to say? I feel like this whole thing with soul is everywhere. Alma means soul, or at least in the name Alma de Luz, it means you are a soul of light, you are a light in this world. I'm like, that's what I want to radiate with this music. That's what I want to share. So that's how that whole thing came about. Then I was thinking about my shows, you know? I'm like, how am I going to do shows? It's so different from banda. How am I even going to find like musicians? It was just everything was so new and so scary, but I knew because I knew that I needed to do this. Then I'm like, I don't want to just give people a concert. I want to give people an experience. I want to take them through certain things, certain modalities that have helped me feel better when I'm not feeling great. Because as we all know, there's always something going on in the world. I'm an empath. I feel a lot of people's emotions. I'm very compassionate. So if I see something that is going on on the other side of the world and I can't really do anything about it, it just makes me very sad and it affects me.

And that's just on top of everything else that I'm going through. So finding this new path has really just helped me. And this whole thing is just because I want to share that.

And I didn't think it was going to be as crazy as it got on social media. But I had an idea. I'm like, some people might not understand. But guys, people went crazy, and they went ham on me.

And at first, I'm like, I'm not going to let it affect me.

But it did kind of make me angry at a point, because I'm not necessarily angry at anyone. It was more, it was like angry, not at myself, or just, I thought like, hey, I really just thought that this was going to be easier, because this music is lighter, because I'm trying to bring light and love to the world and healing in some way. And when it wasn't being taken that way, and people were just misconstruing and making up all these lies and saying these horrible things, it made me upset, because I'm like, I'm just trying to do something good. I'm like, why does this happen? And I just had to remind myself that I am doing something good, and I shouldn't let anything or anyone stop me. I know where my heart is. And I addressed this a little bit on social media, but I didn't get into depth, because I just didn't feel like, I guess I just didn't feel ready.

And also, this is much better, where I could just express and speak from the soul and tell you guys how it is. I didn't want to do any interviews. I was just like, I'm just going to let people think what they want. At the end of the day, I have peace. And that's what I had to come back to. Like, I have peace with who I am, with what I want to do.

And when you're trying to do something good and you're trying to change the world and heal the world, there's always going to be a little bit of resistance or pushback from certain people because misery loves company. And if we really think about it, anyone, and I'm not trying to at all compare myself to any of these people I'm about to mention, but when you really think of people in history, no me voy tan lejos, Jesus Christ and all that, but it's true, he was trying to do something great. I am learning so much about Jesus. So he's so different from what I learned when I was going to church.
