Welcome to episode 824, Do you keep praying for direction while ignoring the one God already gave you?
First of all, if that's a yes, you're not alone. It happens to me still, you know, it's interesting. It can be something big, it could be something small, it could be something life changing, it could be a certain path, it could be any area of your life, you know, and I've always found this interesting. It's like we can pray to God, like, Oh God, please give me the direction, please give me the direction. And what's fascinating to me about this, and that's why I want to do a fuller episode, because I've talked about this a little bit before, what's fascinating is we may ask God for something and be given a very specific direction or a specific task. And if we're not careful, our mind can mess with us and be like, that, why would I do that? That has nothing to do with it. Does it? Maybe it does. Maybe it does. And I know for a fact I'm having an incredible time with my work right now. I love what I'm doing, and there's some new things that I'm creating for these coming years. And there's certain areas of my life, which this will be fun later on a year or two from now when we talk about this, and I will reference this episode. But there's things in my life that, you know, when I ask God for some assistance on a direction or clarity, there's been moments where God's like, I already told you what to do. I already told you to do it. And it's very calm. It's very loving. It's like, do this, do this. I already told you to do this, do this. And that's where, you know, the whole kind of like obedience thing comes in where it's like, is it that simple? Yeah, it is. Now, am I doing it? Yes. Am I doing a little bit slower than I anticipated? Yes, but I'm still doing it. I'm still showing up to it. I'm still making it happen because it feels right. It feels clean. It feels like exactly what I should be doing. And actually, I know exactly why I need to be doing it because it makes a lot of sense. It actually doesn't make a lot of sense, and the deeper I go in the task, the more I'm like, oh, I totally see why you want me to do this. That's the brilliance of God. Now, that doesn't mean that that's always easy. And I think that we can all relate that there's sometimes different areas that we ask for direction. And maybe we were already given direction, but it sounds different than what we had hoped to hear. That is what I'm calling you to potentially think about is, did you ask for something, and God maybe wants you to refine a character trait, or dive deeper into something specific about your approach to life, or to your health, or to your finances, or to your partnership, or whatever it is. And it's not to say that you may not still get the... you very much actually may still get the result you're looking for. Maybe God's bringing you through the connection to it, versus just the granting of it. Right? Connection meaning, like... I have a lot of friends that are, you know, kind of go... like, where they're navigating some really good, big decisions, but they're big. And they preyed on it. And in the process, they're going in directions and routes that they hadn't really anticipated. And... but they're learning so much more about themselves in the process, they're like... And I'm like, do you see the connection? Like, I do. I was like... and then it also helps the result become cleaner for what it needs to fully be. Again, do you keep praying for direction while ignoring the one God already gave you? So in this episode, let's talk about why most people aren't necessarily lacking direction. Maybe they're stalling on the direction they already received. Two, the spiritual principle of completed obedience as the gateway to new revelation. Right? Doing the thing. Three, why God doesn't give you the next instruction until you act on the current one.
Now, that's my opinion. I've kind of just witnessed this, and I've talked about this, is because we sometimes can get very overwhelmed. That's the urgency of humans. Oh, I need to do this. I need to do all these things. I need to do all these things. Like, no, you need to do this thing, this thing. And I will be the first to admit that I have been stubborn at times when God's like, do this thing. I'm like, yeah, I don't know. I get it. And then I'm doing a million things on top of that.
