Happy Tuesday, everyone. Hello and welcome to Yesterday's News, where I cover yesterday's news in about 15 to 20 minutes. The goal of these videos is to help you stay informed, but also give you some of your time back, hopefully help navigate some of the overwhelm. I know that social media has many beautiful things about it in the way that we can get news across, we can rally people together for a cause, but it also is not very good for us mentally sometimes. Also, the algorithms are designed to keep you on the app. They are not designed to embedder you, they are not designed to encourage you, they are designed to do whatever it takes to keep you on the app, and that's why ClickBait does so well. Hopefully, this will help navigate some of that, but also help you feel prepared going into fall and the election season. On this day, October 14th, 1912, Theodore Roosevelt is shot in the chest and gives the speech anyway. Outside the Gilpatrick Hotel in Milwaukee, the former president stood in an open car waving to the crowd. A saloon keeper named John Schrank fired a 38 revolver into his chest from five feet away. The bullet passed through Roosevelt's steel eyeglass case in the 50-folded pages of the speech in his breast pocket and lodged against a rib. His stenographer wrestled the gunman down. The crowd wanted to lynch Schrank. Roosevelt ordered them not to touch him. Then he refused the hospital. He said, quote, I will make this speech or die. It is one thing or the other. The auditorium, he unbuttoned his vest to show the blood and told the audience, it takes more than that to kill a bull moose and spoke for roughly 90 minutes. The bullet stayed in him for the rest of his life. Schrank was found insane and died in an asylum 30 years later.
Today, I'm going to show you a video just absolutely tragic. Trump was giving a Youngstown rally and a woman was attacked by a group of MAGA men, held down by three of them, punched in the face by the other while the crowd chanted USA. I'm going to show you this video and then talk about what happened.
If you're not watching this video, people see her, they're pointing her out, they're yelling, they're filming, they're cheering on the people that are punching her in the mouth. There's three men holding her down. The other man is on top of her punching her in the face. They start chanting USA as they attack this woman.
And then the police show up and they kick her out. These men attacked her, assaulted this woman. These are paid protests, so they're all paid.
They get paid by the lefties in order to destroy our country. They're scum. Yep. But he's going back home to mom.
This is a woman, by the way.
And then they kick her out. He's going back home to mom. Look at him. Not the men who assaulted her.
Look at that. Terrible.
And that is why I never want to hear a MAGA man talk to me about protecting women, because they only protect women that they deem their property or women that they can perceive to be pretty enough, feminine enough, quiet enough, submissive enough to warrant protection. If you obey their rules enough, then maybe they'll protect you. Maybe not. And if they don't, and you've done everything right when it's still your fault somehow. So this was the Kovelli Center Monday night, a protester in a shirt reading, release the Epstein files. This woman was attacked because she was wearing a shirt saying, release the Epstein files. Because some of us still have a fucking problem with people who assaulted children running the country. But MAGA does not. MAGA does no longer gets to say anything about people being pedophiles. They don't get to say anything about law and order because they don't give a shit about law and order. Okay? But so she had this shirt on, video shows male attendee shoving her to the ground, punching her in the face, pulling her hair. She was then held down by three other people. Police escorted her out. The crowd chanted USA as she was removed from the stage. As you heard, Trump called her a paid protester and scum, referred to her as he and said he's got to go on a diet. Added that he's going to get home and he's going to get smacked. Later, he described the FBI's arrest of what he called a radicalized Somalian plotting an attack on the Mall of America. People behind him began to chant deport. The rest of the speech, he said he settled eight wars, thought this would be easier ones, asked, has anybody passed away from global warming, said there was more ice now. He wasn't sure why. He's been having several kind of sundown periods where he's making very weird sounds and these very strange. If you've ever worked in or around a nursing home, it does seem to nod to that. He remarked on Senator Husted's physique after John Gruden introduced him as a former football player, said he checked out his ass.
