Oh, come on, Prince, do what you do, baby! One of the great guitar solos of all time. May he rest in peace.
And sadly, may Presley Gerber rest in peace. Cindy Crawford's son, 27 years old. Long time addiction issues, and unfortunately, it seems like may have succumbed to them. And a parent's worst nightmare, of course, so send prayers and thoughts out to the Gerbers and Crawfords, I guess, right? Is that what he said? Randy Gerber? He's the guy, he owned Casamigos, with George Clooney, sold it for like a billion dollars to Diageo, I think it was, but they lost a son. Terrible. So obviously send thoughts and prayers out to that. I bring that up because in my world, the gambling world, the suicide rate is like 5X compared to drug addicts and alcoholics, because it's a more lonely addiction, according to the experts. So when I see stories like that, it makes me pause for a minute, because it's apparent, obviously, worse nightmare. So I just want to acknowledge that. Obviously, we're here to talk sports and have fun.
That's what we're going to do. As we get to the five o'clock hour, Giants fans will start like a fake pregame show, getting ready for Giants Rams tonight.
Chris McMonigle (1:13)
It doesn't have to be fake. Well, it will be a real pregame show.
Getting you ready for what is...
Craig Carton (1:19)
Well, what do we have on the fan site? A Yankee baseball or Giants? No, no. What do we got? Giants. We got the Giants, yeah?
Now that the Yankee season is over, we're all about football? Regular season, pardon me.
Chris McMonigle (1:30)
And it's not...
Craig Carton (1:30)
That was a slip right there.
Chris McMonigle (1:31)
The regular season isn't over either, but yes, they are locked in to the first...
Craig Carton (1:34)
Little slippage right there.
SPEAKER_3 (1:35)
first wild card.
Chris McMonigle (1:36)
They're not going to win the division. That's all but over.
Craig Carton (1:39)
You know, there's a big issue, I guess, coming up a little bit later this week with the Red Sox final series of the regular season that there's a Nor'easter coming in. Have you seen this?
SPEAKER_3 (1:52)
No.
Craig Carton (1:53)
And they're concerned that the Red Sox are not going to be able to finish the regular season.
Now, there's only one day off. Monday's the day off. And then the 29th, the wild card round starts here at Yankee Stadium, Yankees Red Sox. But I guess there's some issue about the Red Sox finishing the regular season because of weather.
Chris McMonigle (2:12)
They're home against the Cubs. So I guess the weather would be in Boston.
Craig Carton (2:15)
But it's not a Red Sox issue, it's a Cub issue. Because the Cubs are within these three teams, all in a game of each other for the seeding. I think they're all in, but it's who's one, who's two, who's three. So the Cubs have to play that series against the Red Sox because it's their seeding.
The Red Sox aren't playing for anything. They don't give a rat's ass about it.
Chris McMonigle (2:36)
They're pretty much locked into the two seed.
Craig Carton (2:38)
Right. So it's just interesting, there's a terrible storm coming our way. A twister, a twister, NEM, NEM.
Now, I think in a weird way, that probably bodes well for the Yankees.
Chris McMonigle (2:50)
I mean, I guess.
Craig Carton (2:50)
Doesn't hurt the Yankees, right?
Chris McMonigle (2:53)
No.
Craig Carton (2:53)
If the Red Sox are forced to play a game on Monday because the Cubs need to play a game on Monday or even better, a double header on Monday, that benefits the Yankees.
Chris McMonigle (3:05)
They wouldn't play anybody, though.
Craig Carton (3:07)
The point is, you still gotta go play two games. That means a bullpen's gotta get used at some level. Yeah.
Chris McMonigle (3:14)
It's not like September's of Old.
Craig Carton (3:15)
You don't have 20 extra players to let in the dugout.
Chris McMonigle (3:17)
You don't have 20 extra guys. No, you're gonna have to throw some relievers out there.
Craig Carton (3:19)
I'm trying to find an edge for the Yankees.
Chris McMonigle (3:21)
Yeah.
Craig Carton (3:22)
They have to play those games for the Cubs seeding in the National League Wild Card standings. And by all accounts, this is like, the storm of the century, kind of thing. Really? Oh, they're going crazy about it. Yeah?
Chris McMonigle (3:37)
Like, Yes? Damage being done bad? Like, just a lot of rain.
Craig Carton (3:42)
Like, batting down the hatches bad.
