Yankees drop series to Astros and ANOTHER George Lombard Jr. error | 'Go Get Em'

And go get'em we shall. Welcome to the Go Get'em. I'm back. I know I've been off for a little bit. I apologize. I took a vacation, went on a Disney cruise. The cruise ship made it almost impossible to do this, but we're back now. And we are here for the stretch run as the Yankees drop the rubber match and the series to the Houston Astros, leading into what will be the biggest series of the year against the Boston Red Sox starting tomorrow night. And ultimately, look, before we get into the series, there's some things we want to get into. We got news on Judge. We got the injury to Cruz, the bullpen, the Lombard errors. Everything will get to it. We'll do what we normally do. We have the shill and shame of the series. We'll do all what we normally do. But just an overall thing on the series, as me and Ryan, obviously the producer of The Go Get'Em, we were talking right before we came on. Look, the Astros aren't a very good team. Plain and simple. I know they're the Astros. I hate them.
And I know they're in first place or whatever in just an incredibly bad American League West. You're in the push to try and chase down the Rays. You're trying to hold off a Red Sox team that's been the hottest in baseball over the last two and a half months or so. You're trying to secure yourself a home series to start the playoffs. And you can't lose two out of three at home to a lousy Astros team. Bottom line, it's just not a good enough series.
Really, to me, the killer game of the series is the first game where they score all the runs and what they score seven in that game.
You can't score seven runs and lose to the Astros. And Brett Hedrick was bad that night. The bullpen finally let them down. We're going to talk a lot about the bullpen. That's the game that really gets to me. Tonight sucks. The offense sucks. They had multiple opportunities. Lido Fronter, Jazz stealing bases all over the place. Wells hurt them tonight, three strikeouts. Grisham came up in spots to do something. Grisham had an off night. Although his bat's been better. Jazz has gotten hot. The offense is starting to perform. Like, you're starting to score more runs here. I think Bellinger coming back has been huge.
Obviously, Garcia has really gotten hot. Jazz has kind of come around. We could talk about what Wells has been since the All-Star break. So, like, ultimately, it's... The Yankees have been playing better. I think they had won seven out of nine or something like that. So they were winning games. They're playing well. I think the Yankee fans should be behind this team more than it is, but this is an ugly series. Heading into this Boston series, you can't lose two out of three. And you don't have the luxury of having an off series. You don't have the luxury of having an off night. There's still seven and three in their last 10 They're playing better baseball. The offense is woken up. Hopefully, they're going to get Max Fried back, possibly in the Red Sox series. So even though they lose weathers, you feel still pretty good about the rotation. You're waiting for Clark Schmidt. We'll get into all those different scenarios. So like the overall feeling on the team for me, and I know Eileen more positive than some, not that I'm overly thrilled with the team, but I think they've done a fairly good job over the last stretch where they've won some games and they've won some series. They swept the Rays, beat Toronto, and they head into this series and put up a 7th spot in the first game of the series, and the bullpen lets them down for what felt like the first time in a while, and that became the critical moment of this series and where they lost it. And ultimately, just not good enough. They got to, you're not going to win the division losing games like this and losing games like the other night in the first game of the series and not finding a way to beat the lousy Houston Astros. And I'm getting a lot like, and they've played well against the Astros. They beat them earlier in the season. They had a long winning streak in Houston over the last couple of years. So I know it's not that it's, and it's a different Astros team, but it sucks to lose to Houston, always does. And they really brought their hitting shoes. I mean, Varsho had a great series for them. The first couple games, Alvarez does what he does. Altuve got them a couple of times. I said Varsho had a good series. Walker kind of kills them tonight with the two-run homerun.
