Big scandal, by the way, at Yankee Stadium today.

That has not made the newspapers yet. Not surprised that we're on top of things before the newspaper is. Are you aware of the big scandal here today?

Chris McMonigle (0:10)

Here today.

Craig Carton (0:11)

There's a scandal?

Chris McMonigle (0:12)

No.

Craig Carton (0:13)

Maybe Ricky Riccardi knows. He knows everything goes on in this building.

Chris McMonigle (0:16)

I'm sure he knows.

Craig Carton (0:16)

But even Ricky doesn't know about this one.

Chris McMonigle (0:18)

Well then, why'd you ask me?

Craig Carton (0:20)

Well, because I figured maybe because you're the biggest shill, and you've got to go get a podcast, that maybe the Yankees reach out and say, listen, if Carton brings up the scandal, try to...

Chris McMonigle (0:29)

Can I play it?

Craig Carton (0:30)

Yeah.

Chris McMonigle (0:31)

So it's a negative Yankee scandal?

Craig Carton (0:32)

Well, it's a negative, yes. It is a negative. Nothing at all to do with the lineup tonight.

Chris McMonigle (0:36)

Okay.

Craig Carton (0:37)

Did you know that for tonight's Yankee game, and it's hard for me to even say this because I get emotional about it, because I've got a relationship with the Yankees and with all the vendors here, and I'm very close with the chefs, as you know.

SPEAKER_3 (0:51)

Yeah.

Chris McMonigle (0:51)

No food today.

Craig Carton (0:52)

Did you know that the New York Yankees ran out of peanuts? There are no peanuts in Yankee Stadium tonight for a postseason playoff game.

SPEAKER_3 (1:04)

Wow.

Craig Carton (1:05)

How about that? They ran out of peanuts.

Chris McMonigle (1:08)

What about Cracker Jack?

Craig Carton (1:09)

Cannot get peanuts back here in time for tonight's game. They ran out last week, no peanuts, and whatever vendor sells them their peanuts, they still eat peanuts at a ball. Every American I know.

Chris McMonigle (1:23)

It's not that popular anymore.

Craig Carton (1:23)

Okay, let's sing the song, Sarah.

Chris McMonigle (1:25)

I know.

Craig Carton (1:25)

Buy me some.

Chris McMonigle (1:27)

Peanuts and Cracker Jacks.

Craig Carton (1:29)

So now what's the song? Buy me some nothing in Cracker Jacks?

Chris McMonigle (1:34)

Buy me bacon on a stick in Cracker Jacks.

Craig Carton (1:36)

Getting peanuts at a ball game is like an American right of way. It's like a thing we do.

Chris McMonigle (1:42)

I don't think there's going to be more than a handful of people who will say about no peanuts. How about that? This is not like the chicken ice cream. This is worse. This is not worse.

Craig Carton (1:50)

Everyone's had a peanut. Because chicken ice cream, sir, was never associated with baseball until this year. And yes, they ran out of it quite famously.

But peanuts is as American as apple pie and Chevrolet.

Chris McMonigle (2:03)

Yeah.

Craig Carton (2:04)

And for tonight's playoff game, you cannot buy a peanut at Yankee Stadium. Huge scandal.

Huge scandal.

Chris McMonigle (2:12)

Big deal.

Craig Carton (2:13)

I'm going to get to the bottom of it.

Chris McMonigle (2:14)

I don't have shells at my feet. Great. Oh, you're that guy. I'm feeling good about it.

Craig Carton (2:17)

I like that. You're minimizing the American baseball fans' desire to eat a peanut.

Chris McMonigle (2:23)

That's correct.

Craig Carton (2:24)

What's wrong with you?

Chris McMonigle (2:25)

Nobody.

Craig Carton (2:26)

A handful of people get peanuts. I mean, will you criticize this franchise about anything? Jack, I will. How do you defend running peanuts?

Chris McMonigle (2:31)

I killed them for not having the chicken ice cream after one game.

Craig Carton (2:34)

Oh, because the big man needed his ice cream.

Chris McMonigle (2:36)

No, because it's a new hot item. How do you not have enough?

Craig Carton (2:39)

Yeah, and you waited in line. I couldn't get the ice cream.

Chris McMonigle (2:42)

Who knows what the reason is for no peanuts? Something happened. A truck broke down. You think the Yankees said, I don't want peanuts? You think the Yankees didn't order enough peanuts?

Craig Carton (2:49)

Apparently not. Something's up with the peanuts. Or legends did not order enough peanuts for the Yankees being in the playoffs.

SPEAKER_3 (2:57)

Maybe they thought the Yankees weren't going to make the playoffs.

Chris McMonigle (3:00)

You want to talk about an American story? Help our peanut farmers. Because something's up.

Craig Carton (3:04)

How am I helping the peanut farmer from not selling peanuts?

Chris McMonigle (3:07)

Because are there enough peanuts to sell?

Craig Carton (3:09)

Yes, there are.

Chris McMonigle (3:10)

There's plenty of peanuts.

Craig Carton (3:11)

Just not in the Bronx today. So if you're coming to the game today, and I'm not sure why this is not a front page story, I don't get it. But someone's got to fight for the fan. That'll be my job, as always. You cannot eat a peanut at Yankee Stadium tonight.
