Rachel McElroy (0:17)

Hi, this is Rachel McElroy.

Griffin McElroy (0:18)

Hello, this is Griffin McElroy.

Rachel McElroy (0:19)

And this is Wonderful!

Griffin McElroy (0:20)

Welcome to Wonderful! to Show. We talk about things we like that's good, that we're into, usually a very fun, lightweight vibe makes you feel good to listen to it. But, you know, it's Shocktober, and I can't make any promises to that effect because it might be pretty freaking scary.

Rachel McElroy (0:39)

Oh, man. I love Halloween, I love the spooky season. I do not love people using it as like a intro or a thing to talk about.

Griffin McElroy (0:51)

Oh, interesting.

Rachel McElroy (0:52)

Should we start over?

Griffin McElroy (0:53)

Okay, welcome to Wonderful! It's a podcast, we talk about things we like, it's good that we're into football season back, baby. Toss that pigskin down the gridiron and let's catch one for seven points.

Rachel McElroy (1:05)

I think because it's such a short season, that like, it feels very dated. And it just reminds me of the Today Show.

Griffin McElroy (1:15)

Oh, shit, babe.

Rachel McElroy (1:17)

What are the hot Halloween costumes this season? We'll look into it, Al, give us the weather.

Griffin McElroy (1:22)

But then Al Roker's dressed up like baby Yoda.

Rachel McElroy (1:25)

Did he do that one?

Griffin McElroy (1:27)

Did Al Roker dress up like baby Yoda?

Rachel McElroy (1:29)

Yeah.

Griffin McElroy (1:29)

Yeah. He had the floating pod and everything, the ears.

Rachel McElroy (1:32)

The Today Show is kind of famous for their like real huge commitment to Halloween costumes.

Griffin McElroy (1:37)

That's true. That's true. I don't know if he's done baby Yoda, but law of large numbers, that show's been around for such a long time. And the footprint of the Mandalorian is, as you know.

Rachel McElroy (1:49)

I was gonna say, the footprint of Al Roker.

Griffin McElroy (1:51)

The footprint of Al Roker is also probably enormous. I mean, in my mind, he's 15 feet tall because of the one time that he did embarrass me and roast me personally face to face in front of my good friend, Jimmy Buffett.

And I'm seriously pissed.

Rachel McElroy (2:10)

That's such a, I know you're not in get to know you situations very often, but if you ever have to do like a two truths and a lie.

SPEAKER_4 (2:17)

No, yeah, my two truths and a lie.

Rachel McElroy (2:19)

I got roasted by Al Roker.

Griffin McElroy (2:21)

Yeah, Al Roker burnt my ass up into a crisp, into a caramely crisp. Yeah, my two truths and a lie game would be pretty fucked up, I think.

Rachel McElroy (2:30)

Yeah.

Griffin McElroy (2:31)

I didn't used to have, like when I was doing that at church camp, I never had like anything good, but now I feel like I could really smoke.

Rachel McElroy (2:37)

I know, I remember one of my lies was, I have my ears pierced like that.

Griffin McElroy (2:44)

Yeah, no.

Rachel McElroy (2:45)

That was about the level I was gonna bring.

Griffin McElroy (2:47)

Yeah, I used to, I remember a few times, I would always struggle with this, and one of my like facts would be that would be my partial blindness in my eye. And people would often be like, oh, that one probably it's kind of fucked up. And then I'd have to be like, no, like part of my left eye doesn't work. And then the response to that was usually like, oh.

So that was the energy that I was bringing to church camp.

Rachel McElroy (3:10)

The thing about that too is it suggests like some story, some like great story.

SPEAKER_4 (3:14)

God, I fucking wish, man.

Rachel McElroy (3:15)

And then for you to just be like, I don't know.

Griffin McElroy (3:17)

I don't know. Maybe he's born with it.

SPEAKER_3 (3:20)

Doctors don't quite know.

Griffin McElroy (3:23)

Do you have any small wonders?

Rachel McElroy (3:25)

Oh man, I mean, hockey's back.

Griffin McElroy (3:29)

Is it? I didn't notice. I know that they had the one game and then-

Rachel McElroy (3:34)

You know what I will say, and we were talking about this last night as we were watching them lose, to a team that hadn't lost yet. Or hadn't won yet. Hadn't won yet, yeah. Had played three games and had lost all three, and then lo and behold, they played-

Griffin McElroy (3:47)

A generous team, the St. Louis Blues, always looking out for the little guy.

Rachel McElroy (3:52)

Anyway, the players they have brought to the team this year as new guys, not all of them brand new to the NHL, but like new to the Blues are performing.
