Welcome everyone to this special edition of Monday Match Analysis. I'm Gil Gross. Today's episode is our Wimbledon Power Rankings 2026 show with Alex Gruskin, Editor-in-Chief at Cracked Racquets. You know the deal, we've done this many times before. Power Rankings, a ordered list of Wimbledon contendership will go from low to high. Without further ado, Wimbledon Power Rankings with Alex Gruskin.
We're joined once again by Alex Gruskin, our annual Wimbledon Power Rankings guy, at least it's the second year in a row.
Gruskin, great to see you. I think you, I mean, you were making some last minute decisions as we got on here, and you referred to your list already as atrocious.
**Alex Gruskin** (2:08)
Yeah, it's awful. I mean, it's wonderful to be back on your show. I always appreciate the opportunity to chat with you. And certainly it feels like the grass court season is the sprint within the marathon, that is the tennis calendar. And so, you really don't have the sort of time you have, certainly during the course of a hard court season, certainly in the two and a half month build up to Roland Garros. You can solidify some takes. You can't do that during the grass court season. You have to go by past performance. You have to go by inclinations. And so, yeah, an exercise like this, my list sucks, but I'm happy to be here, and I always enjoy the chance to discuss it.
**Gill Gross** (2:48)
Well, yeah, a lot of it is, for me, figuring out, does this person's game make sense on the surface? There might not be evidence to support or deny, but it's just my hunch is that this is going to work on grass, especially for the young guys. That's why this is always, it's the worst power ranking and the best power ranking. It's the worst because we have nothing to go off of, and it's the best because we're going to probably disagree a lot.
So I have a bunch of names, like a lot, who I thought or I think are worth mentioning, but they didn't make my top 10 So let's run through those first.
The first guy, and this is, I'm going to lead with, this is somebody who, if you told me a few months ago that I wouldn't have him in, I'd be surprised. I do not have Alexander Bublik in my top 10
I thought I was going to be able to get him in. He's been awesome in his career, throughout his career in HALA. Actually, he hasn't been good at Wimbledon. And I just feel like he's relapsed into a version of Alexander Bublik that can lose to basically anybody on any given day.
**Alex Gruskin** (3:53)
He's the first name on my honorable mention as well. My first pass through this list, I had him as high as six. And then I said, wait a second, like that's just too high. In theory, he is the guy. If he serves well, given the lack of clarity in the field, an interesting name, but yeah, lack of recent form, couldn't have him in the top 10
**Gill Gross** (4:11)
Yeah, just too many bad losses recently.
I also left, this is another guy, would have maybe surprised me at a certain point in time, but for me, Alex De Minaur just hasn't looked like himself. I know he had a good result in her Taggenbosch. He is eighth in the race somehow, but the eye test for De Minaur this year has been off. Like I just don't think he's himself. And also the pressure, I think the emotional toll of the last few years is starting to wear on him. So I don't really take De Minaur too seriously as a contender coming into this Wimbledon.
