Hey chat, welcome to the Healthy GamerGG podcast. I'm Dr. Ollo Kanodja, but you can call me Dr. K. I'm a psychiatrist, gamer, and co-founder of Healthy Gamer. On this podcast, we explore mental health and life in the digital age, breaking down big ideas to help you better understand yourself and the world around you. So, let's dive right in.
Alrighty, chat, let's get started. Welcome to another Healthy GamerGG stream. My name is Dr. Ollo Kanodja. Just a reminder that although I'm a psychiatrist, nothing we discussed on stream today is intended to be taken as medical advice. Everything is for educational or entertainment purposes only. If you all have a medical concern or question, please go see a licensed professional.
So today, we've got a super awesome stream guest who I hope is coming, and hopefully nothing fell through.
But we are hopefully going to be talking to Dr. Kirk Honda from Psychology in Seattle, who's an expert on personality disorders. So, you know, I have some experience with personality disorders. So like, I do deal a lot with more Cluster B stuff. So for those of you all that aren't familiar with this stuff, I do a lot of work with people with sociopathy, narcissism, and borderline personality disorder. Those are really like what I... Yeah, so that's kind of where I have a lot more clinical experience. And hopefully today we'll be talking with Dr. Honda about avoidant personality disorder. So I have tons of questions about it. We have a couple of posts that we can look at, but I think it's something that's actually really relevant to this community. There we go. We fixed it. All right. Hey, Dr. Honda, how are you?
I just got to fix sound, so count to 10 for me one last time.

**Dr. Kirk Honda** (2:54)
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Perfect.

**Dr. Ollo Kanodja** (2:58)
Perfect. Thank you so much. So I just did our intro. Just a reminder to everyone that Dr. Honda is also a medical professional, but nothing he is going to say today qualifies as medical advice. Anything that y'all have a medical concern or question about, please go see a licensed professional.
Sound appropriate, Dr. Honda?

**Dr. Kirk Honda** (3:18)
Absolutely.

**Dr. Ollo Kanodja** (3:19)
So I was just telling people that you're an expert in avoidant, in personality disorders. But do you want to start by just telling us a little bit? And I think today we're going to be talking mostly about avoidant personality disorder.

**Dr. Kirk Honda** (3:32)
Okay.

**Dr. Ollo Kanodja** (3:33)
I love how he says okay. So if there are other things that are available, cool.

**Dr. Kirk Honda** (3:38)
Yeah. Well, we had brainstormed lots of things. So I sort of mini prepped a lot of things this morning. But yeah.

**Dr. Ollo Kanodja** (3:45)
Yeah. Do you want to tell us a couple of the other things that you kind of thought about or talked about? I know we prepped, as you said, for a lot of things.

**Dr. Kirk Honda** (3:52)
Well, yeah, we talked about schizoid personality disorder as well. And maybe just about loneliness in general and what can cause isolation.

**Dr. Ollo Kanodja** (4:05)
Yeah. Awesome. So that sounds great. I'm personally curious because I've worked with very few schizoid people in my clinical career.

**Dr. Kirk Honda** (4:13)
They don't usually come to therapy.

**Dr. Ollo Kanodja** (4:15)
Right. Yeah. So I think I would love to hear about that. But do you want to tell us a little bit about kind of who you are, where people can find you on the Internet?

**Dr. Kirk Honda** (4:26)
Yeah.
I have had a podcast and YouTube channel called Psychology in Seattle since 2008 And we do all sorts of things, you know, podcasts and reaction videos and deep dives and lots of things.
