Welcome back to the Survivor edition of Why Blank Lost. Now the only edition of Why Blank Lost till next summer since Big Brother has ended.
SPEAKER_1 (1:12)
I'm David Bloomberg.
Jessica Lewis (1:12)
That's right, you're down to one. You're down to one.
David Bloomberg (1:15)
That's right. I'm David Bloomberg. And, oh no, I don't want to quit the podcast, but my right hand just started hurting. And it's the one I use to move the mouse.
And I'm not sure I can go on. Woe is me!
Jessica Lewis (1:32)
David, wait, show it to me so I can look at it and see if it's okay.
David Bloomberg (1:37)
It's...
Jessica Lewis (1:38)
David, it looks fine. You're okay. There's nothing wrong with that. You're okay. You're fine.
David Bloomberg (1:42)
It has pain shooting through all the fingers.
Jessica Lewis (1:45)
No, I don't see any issue there, David, for you to continue the podcast. So I'm just going to have to say you're good to go.
You can keep doing the podcast. It's great.
David Bloomberg (1:54)
Okay. Well, then I'll do that. And thank you to my co-host, Jessica Lewis, for the diagnosis here.
Jessica Lewis (2:04)
Unbelievable that you would even attempt such a thing, David Bloomberg.
David Bloomberg (2:07)
I know. I know.
Jessica Lewis (2:09)
It's almost shocking.
David Bloomberg (2:11)
Yes.
Yes. It's funny because last week we did some Q&A and listener Mike asked us how we would have dealt with Rob quitting in The Rules if it had worked. Lo and behold, Rob gave up his dumb scheme and his game to make it happen. So Mike can get the answer to that question, because, yes, even with a quit.
Jessica Lewis (2:35)
It's the butterfly effect.
David Bloomberg (2:36)
Yes.
Even with a quit, we will compare both players gameplay to a set of guiding rules for winning. I wrote originally wrote way back after season one and have been updating ever since. We use all the non-spoiler information available to us from what we saw on TV, interviews, social media, and secret scenes. The newest published version of the rules can be found at robhazardwebsite.com/yxlostfeed, where you can click on the link bubble for Survivor rules. Now, as usual, we have some other topics to discuss first.
And let's start with the guy. Now, I want to make something clear before I say what I'm about to say. So those of you who are on video can see I am wearing the Stupid Is As Stupid Does shirt. Okay. This is not directed at Pat, obviously. I'm sorry, Pat, that you have to be talked about on a podcast where I'm wearing this. Because I think this is for special occasions. Okay. I already wore it once earlier this week when Paramount Plus accidentally spoiled the episode by posting videos too soon. Okay.
Jessica Lewis (3:40)
So yes.
David Bloomberg (3:43)
And so I wore this shirt for them. I wore it once during Big Brother.
I'm forced to bring it out again for Rob.
Jessica Lewis (3:53)
Yeah.
David Bloomberg (3:54)
And we will talk more about that later. But there's also a guy, and this is not the shirt for him, who said he may be the dumbest survivor player ever, aka your winner pick, who may have accidentally turned into one of the swing votes to save my winner pick.
Jessica Lewis (4:17)
Which I might have included on my screen here.
David Bloomberg (4:23)
I did not see that. My winner pick saved his.
So when he first made that statement, I was originally saying, no, we've had much dumber players. Carter, don't put yourself in that category, including, of course, one of the main subjects of the podcast, the one I'm wearing the shirt for. But then he went on to try to prove his statement correct with a series of, shall we say, not very smart moves in the episode before we got to the vote.
Jessica Lewis (4:53)
So we're just going to bash my winner pick for a little bit. Is that what we're doing?
David Bloomberg (4:57)
Just a little. Not nearly as much as we're going to bash Rob, trust me.
Jessica Lewis (5:03)
That is true. And listen, I have to give Carter props because it is fascinating to see how almost like his bad luck turned into incredible luck and a great ending result for him. So it's almost like those cartoons. Have you ever seen the cartoons where there's the dog walking around and all of these things are happening around him? Like things are almost falling on top of him and doors are almost smacking him, but he just keeps walking and manages to walk away from everything. And that's what Carter did. Nothing that was happening around him negatively affected him or hurt him and actually benefited him in the long run.
