The United States, we're very arrogant about our currency. And we kind of have this belief that our currency is impenetrable and will be in existence infinitely. 100% was about Donald Trump, and about the Trump coin, and about the Melania coin, and about the rumored Eric coin, and about World Liberty Financial. It is a complete, max-extraction play.

This episode is brought to you by FortisX. Guys, let's be honest, the crypto market has been moving sideways for a while now. A lot of people are just sitting on their coins, waiting for the next big move. But while you're waiting, your crypto is just sitting in your wallet doing absolutely nothing. That's why I want to mention one of my longtime partners, FortisX.

Instead of just letting your assets sit idle, you can put supported cryptocurrencies into FortisX liquidity pools and earn daily rewards while still keeping the flexibility to withdraw whenever you want. One of the reasons I've continued working with them is because they keep delivering. The team is public, they've successfully completed Cyberscope Team Verification, KYC, past independent security audits, and the platform has been building consistently for years. They focus on long-term growth, transparency and security rather than hype. In a market like this, it makes far more sense to have your crypto working for you instead of letting it sit idle in your wallet. I've worked with FortisX for a long time, and if you're planning to hold your crypto anyway, I genuinely think it's one of the smartest ways to put those assets to work.

Folks, I know security is very important to all of us as we hold our crypto assets, and they are fully audited by Certiq, and they are SEC registered and much more. You got to check out FortisX. Go to fortisx.fi slash x slash Thinking Crypto. Link will be in the description.

Hey folks, welcome into The Thinking Crypto Podcast. I'm Tony Edward.

Joining us is Hunter Biden, who's an author, artist, and recovery advocate. Hunter, it's great to have you.

Hunter Biden (2:09)

Thanks for having me. Excited to be here. Thank you, guys.

Tony Edward (2:13)

Yeah, Hunter, Amanda and I are excited to chat with you and talk about laptop and much more. So let's take it to the genesis of where you discovered crypto and blockchain tech and what was your aha moment?

Where did that click for you?

Hunter Biden (2:27)

Yeah. You have to go back a little bit.

And in terms of me getting into the blockchain or even having an understanding of the blockchain, that came not too long ago, a few years ago when I read the Internet of Money. My initial interest in digital money came from an experience that I had when I was the chairman of the board of a thing called the US. UN World Food Program. And that's the US agency, the organization that supports the UN World Food Program, which is the largest humanitarian organization in the world. And we feed over, I think, it's 75 or 80 million people in 75 countries and are the first responders to any natural disaster or manmade disaster such as civil conflict. And what we dealt with and always were the first on the ground for, were mainly refugees and long term refugees. And what we found is that when you move refugees into a neighboring country, they basically, by the virtue of our generosity of the UN or the US, we end up cannibalizing entire communities and economies through all of the influx of free goods. And so what we tried to institute was a pilot program that then grew in which people could make microtransactions through their phones. And even refugees, everybody's got a phone. And so that became a great interest to me that spread out to the ability for subsistence farmers to be able to actually execute on transactions that were global, like bringing their goods to market in places like Ethiopia and Kenya and Dadaab and other places. So to me, I got interested in the democratization of financial instruments and the ability for people that are unbanked to be able to have a way to interact in global commerce. And then that spread into the idea of immigrant populations and immigrant populations that are sending money back to their homes and paying these incredible usury fees that Western Union and other, well, mainly Western Union charge. So every hardworking person's immigrant dollar is worth 12% less than it is by virtue of the fact that we, that the incumbent financial institutions exclude so many people from banking and the movement of money across borders. So that that became my interest in, and then I read the Internet of Money and became a, I got a deeper understanding, nothing like you guys. So I hope there's not a quiz at the end of this, but a real affinity for the idea of more than anything, the way that I put it is the democratization of financial instruments and the capacity for people, regardless of their economic means, to be able to enter into the global economy, a global economy that is ubiquitous. It's not as if any of us can escape it, whether you're a subsistence farmer, itinerant worker, immigrant worker here in the United States, or anywhere in the world. And the conclusion that I came to was that in the United States, we're very arrogant about our currency, rightfully so as the anchor for the rest of the world's global economy. And we kind of have this belief that our currency is impenetrable and will be in existence infinitely in a way. And I just don't see that. I see a world in which I know my friends from Argentina and Venezuela, and I mean, just go down the list of other countries in which the currencies became basically worthless. And all of a sudden, your money completely evaporates.
