Our guest today has spent more than 20 years tackling one of the most fascinating and arguably one of the most important questions we can ask. How does the human mind actually work? Sean Webb is an author, systems engineer, speaker and creator of Mind Hacking Happiness, where he combines cognitive neuroscience, emotional intelligence, psychology, and consciousness studies into a practical framework for understanding why we think, feel and behave the way we do.
An engineer originally trained in solving complex technology and supercomputing challenges, Sean had what he calls a powerful awakening, leading him to turn those same system thinking skills toward the human mind.
Today, his work is being used in universities, artificial emotional intelligence research and emerging applications for addiction recovery and PTSD, while helping thousands of people learn how to create greater happiness, resilience and emotional freedom from the inside out.
He's spoken at NASA, Georgia Tech, Science of Consciousness, and many of the world's leading organizations exploring consciousness and human potential. Let's welcome Sean Webb to the show. Imagine if you could go back to the early days of companies like Apple, Tesla or SpaceX. Not because of the products they were selling at the time, but because you believed in the future they were trying to build. That's what IgnaTon is all about. Yes, today we create premium wellness products designed to support cognition, longevity and restorative sleep and skin. And they're all backed by carefully selected ingredients and supported by clinical research. But for us, they're only the beginning. At IgnaTon, we believe the future of human wellness will be shaped not only by chemistry, but by a deeper understanding of how living systems organize, communicate and maintain coherence. We're investing in the science, the research and the technologies that could one day expand how we think about recovery, performance and healthy aging. Every bottle we ship today helps fund that journey. When you choose Ignecognition, IgneLongevity, IgneREM Sleep or IgnePeptide Eye Serum, you're not simply buying a supplement. You're joining a community that believes the next great frontier in wellness is still waiting to be discovered. Some companies sell products, others build the future. We intend to do both. Sean Webb, nice to meet you. Welcome to the show. Thanks for joining.
Sean Webb (2:48)
Thanks for having me. It's a great honor to be with you.
Ashley Grace (2:52)
Yeah. Thank you so much. I go ahead and take a second and let's introduce yourself to the audience and tell a little bit about your background, and then we can just kind of dive in.
Sean Webb (3:04)
Sure. I've been a consciousness researcher for a couple, three decades now. I'm a published author and I've taught mind mastery to the United States Navy SEALs.
I've done a lot of projects, been to a lot of science conferences presenting. Most recently, I presented the algorithms of empathy and compassion to the Science of Consciousness Conference in Barcelona, and I'm looking to add empathy and compassion into AI, so that we can push AI towards leading us into a more safe and peaceful world by leading, by example, through exhibiting empathy and compassion. And so that's kind of my story. I just published a book, NHI Connected Mind, which is connected with some of the sci research that I've done. And I share a couple of fun stories in there about some childhood abductions and kind of the spy story of how the US government is trying to put their fingers on the scales for AI and invitations up to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to meet the chief engineer of US Space Command and all that kind of cool stuff. So a fun read, it was fun to write. And that's just my latest project.
Ashley Grace (4:25)
They wouldn't do that. I mean, they're all benevolent people, right?
Sean Webb (4:30)
Well, you know, they always start with the greatest intentions, right? But then again, you know, those projects seem to drift and turn into something else with unlimited budgets and unaccountable reporting.
Ashley Grace (4:45)
Yeah. Well, we'll just leave that one alone. I will go down that path.
But you know, in studying a little bit for this and doing a little research on you, I noted that you're an engineer. So, how did you get from engineering to thinking about the engineering behind the human mind? And how consciousness and emotion were really a systems conversation?
