Let's dive in to the breaking news that Bo Nix will not play in the Broncos first preseason game. Sean Payton announced that on Wednesday heading into the team's Friday preseason game. But Bo will play in the next two preseason games. Sean Payton said, quote, If we were playing a game, you guys will watch the practice. He would. He wants to play. He'll play the next two weeks. I think that was probably something that was already decided maybe a month ago. But if we were playing a game, I would say he would play. You'd have to ask him. But I'd say a hundred percent. Then the head coach went on to say that Nix is where he should be in his recovery, saying, quote, there was a play where he moved and he hit Pat Bryant. That was a real good sign. I was it was a real good throw. So he's doing well. I'm sure there's scar tissue in certain parts of it. But he's right where we hope we're hoping he would be on quote. So Bo Nix is playing, not playing on Friday, but he is healthy. The rest of the healthy starters for the Broncos will play roughly 15 plays on Friday against the Falcons in Atlanta. And Sean announced that the players rehabbing injury will not travel with the team and will stay in Denver. Bo will travel with the team, though, because he is not part of that injured group. And Jonathan Cooper will also play on Friday. Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger will each play a half against the Falcons. Those two get to duke it out. It's going to be fun to watch that. And the Broncos starting defense will face Tua Tungavailoa in the first preseason game on Friday. So Tua makes his Falcons debut against the Denver Broncos. Let's get to the other news of the day, which is the Broncos first unofficial depth chart has been released, but take it with a grain of salt, as it's not actually the coaching staff that puts this together. It's the PR department that puts this together. The team is required to release one, so the PR department does it, coaching staff signs off on it. So really take it with a grain of salt. Now saying that, let's dive in to the notable things that are in there. The starting receivers, Jalen Waddle, Cortland Sutton and Marvin Mims. Your second string receivers are Troy Franklin, Lil Jordan Humphrey and Pat Bryant. You might be saying, Zac, you've been telling me that Pat Bryant has been crushing camp. Why is he on the second wide receivers group? He's not. That's just where the Broncos have him right now. We know that he is one of the starters right now. He's arguably had the best camp. More on that in just a second.
Malcolm Roach gets the starting spot left by John Franklin Myers along with Zac Allen or next to Zac Allen and DJ Jones. RJ Harvey is the backup running back to JK Dobbins. Evan Ingram is the starting tight end ahead of Adam Troutman. Jarrett Stidham is listed as the Broncos backup quarterback ahead of Sam Ehlinger. And the Broncos do not currently have a healthy center on their roster. All three centers that are listed on their depth chart are not healthy right now. We got some unfortunate news about the Broncos third center. Michael Dieter, he suffered a season ending quad injury that's going to require surgery. So that's a real bummer for him. Hope his recovery goes well. We also know Luke Wattenberg and Alis Forsythe are injured as well. So Broncos don't even have a center on their depth chart. They're just gonna have to go with someone else. I would expect Calvin Throckmorton to be that guy that is snapping to Jarrett Stidham to start the game on Friday. And Jaday Baron is listed as a backup behind both Riley Moss and J Kwon McMillan as you've been following along. You know that Riley and J Kwon have had great camps and Jaday is not ready to pass either of those guys right now. And another thing with this depth chart, all rookies are listed last on the depth chart. That's a Bill Parcells thing that Sean Payton picked up on. Said rookies have to earn their way up on the depth chart. So a couple years ago, Lombo was a rookie. Despite him winning the quarterback battle, when this first depth chart came out, he was listed as a last on there. So don't read too much into this depth chart. It's a fun thing to look at and see where things, maybe, maybe they aren't. Let's dive into the winners of camp and hit us with a thumbs up. Subscribe to this channel. And no one has had a better training camp than Patrick Bryant II. Patty Ice, as Davis Webb calls him, has been the winner of Broncos camp so far. And I'm not sure there's a day where he hasn't made at least one important play in practice, if not a few. With Jalen Waddle and Courtney Sutton limited at times in camp, Bryant has taken his expanded role and absolutely run away with it. Remember, it was just two weeks ago that everyone believed Denver's third receiver role was up for grabs with Bryant, Marvin Mims Jr. and Troy Franklin. Now, Sean Payton is saying he won't be able to take Pat off the field. And Vance Joseph is saying that Pat is the guy in the receiver room.
