Hey there, listener, this is Third and Ten, a sports podcast dedicated to covering the NFL landscape with a focus on the New York Giants. We are brought to you by Belly Up Sports and the Belly Up Sports Media Network. Here's your host, Nathan Nguyen. Hey, yo, what's going on, boys and girls? Episode 17 of season two is here. And yeah, we are one day closer to the regular season and another day closer to our last preseason game of the 2024 season for the New York Football Giants. What's up, guys? I'm Nate, that's Brian here to my right as always. Brian, happy Thursday to you. And this is the first time in a while we're doing an episode early for me, but like I have normal time for you, so.
**Brian Germinaro** (1:39)
Yeah, yeah. Noon over here on the East Coast. So alright, how you doing?
**Nathan Nguyen** (1:44)
How you doing?
**Brian Germinaro** (1:45)
I'm good. Trying to figure out how a team that won six games last year can be seen as regressing in 2025 Yeah, like, you know, you know, ESPN, they, you know, Worldwide Leaders Sports and the other teams on that list made a lot of sense. Eagles, Ravens, but it seemed like an unnecessary shot at the New York Giants, which makes no sense to whatsoever. Like when I think regressing, I think of playoff teams not being playoff teams, not a six and 11 team falling farther. Makes no sense. So might want to get that straight out ESPN and stop using the Giants for clicks. Be nice. Eh, eh.
Yeah, you're glitching, buddy.
**Nathan Nguyen** (2:37)
Oh, God. Is it better now? No?
**Brian Germinaro** (2:38)
Yeah, you're better now. You're good now.
**Nathan Nguyen** (2:40)
You're good. Keep me updated on that. Streamyard has been not very nice to me. But there were five teams, I believe, that were on that post. So the Giants were one of them, Eagles, Ravens. What were the other two? Do you know by any chance?
**Brian Germinaro** (2:54)
I took a screenshot on my phone. I don't know exactly what it is. Hey, let me see if I can check on photos.
**Nathan Nguyen** (3:00)
For sure. But as you look that up, but it's like how, what is regressing? You know, like you were six and 11 last year. Like you just said, what is, what? Four games, four and 13 That's not regressing. That's literally the same deal minus two games. Like it's not that, that's not regression. So, but yeah, look at the end of the day, ESPN has, let's be honest, they've gone downhill a little bit. And this is not a shot towards them. It's just they fired a lot of people because of cuts and everything. We just saw RG3 get fired like legit in the past week.
I heard the, I do like Scott Van Pelt as the host of Monday.
**SPEAKER_4** (3:45)
I think it's Monday Night Countdown.
**Nathan Nguyen** (3:47)
Yeah, Monday Night Countdown.
**Brian Germinaro** (3:48)
Yeah.
**Nathan Nguyen** (3:49)
But I think for Sunday, they replaced the lady that originally was hosting it with Mike Greenberg, who is the host of Get Up. He's a Jets fan. So, I mean, that's not a bad choice. I don't know who else they could have gotten, to be honest, to host that show.
**Brian Germinaro** (4:04)
I mean, I like Greenberg a lot. I think he'll do a good job with it. So, you know, it's not too big of a move.
**Nathan Nguyen** (4:10)
But yeah, I just feel like ESPN as a whole, it's got a lot of negativity towards them, which isn't the best, because they are like just the worldwide leader in sports, but they're not doing so well. Stephen A. Smith is kind of in a way.
**Brian Germinaro** (4:24)
I'm out on Stephen A. Smith.
**Nathan Nguyen** (4:27)
Why?
**Brian Germinaro** (4:28)
Because he claimed that Derek Jeter is the greatest Yankee of all time.
**Nathan Nguyen** (4:35)
Isn't it Babe Ruth?
**Brian Germinaro** (4:36)
It's Babe. I can tell you it's Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Mariano Rivera has got an argument, Yogi Berra, all of them. All six of those guys I'd say are better. At least those four. The first four I mentioned are better. Maybe we could make an argument with Yogi and Rivera and Whitey Ford. Jeter is kind of in that second tier. No, no shy Jeter. Great player. But the Mountain Rush more of New York Yankees are Babe, Roof, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio. There's no question.
