Welcome in to Fantasy Focus Football alongside Mike Clay and Field Yates. Good for both of you guys being ready and prepared for that intro.
Mike Clay (0:51)
Yeah.
Daniel Dopp (0:52)
I was waiting to see for you to reach down in a few years. Fantasy Focus Football. I tried to do a little bit of the voice.
Mike Clay (0:59)
Oh, you did?
Yeah, I was ready today. I checked my phone on right before the music ended. I had my mic ready. I took an allergy pill before the show today, so hopefully I could hold up and speak today.
Daniel Dopp (1:09)
Is that what the problem was?
Mike Clay (1:10)
Was allergies yesterday? Yeah, certain times of the years. I don't know if you guys get that too, pollen and get a little congestion.
Field Yates (1:15)
It's usually springtime for us to wing.
Daniel Dopp (1:17)
I don't know.
Mike Clay (1:18)
I get hit or miss.
SPEAKER_1 (1:19)
I think this is the thing.
Field Yates (1:21)
I know what it is.
Daniel Dopp (1:21)
Clay eye is just susceptible to viruses, is probably what the thing is. It could be.
Field Yates (1:26)
I was trying to weave in a joke, like Mike is allergic to B. Robinson's after last night. We'll talk about that game. And I have to, I would like to formally issue an apology, preemptively announcing said apology, because it comes once we get into our Monday night football recap.
Daniel Dopp (1:42)
Yeah, very excited about that. We got Monday night football recap. We're going to dive into the waiver wire here and a bunch of other fun segments, like we always pay off starts of the week and whatnot. But with that, let's get in. By the way, just do you want to talk about the news of Joe Mixon getting signed by the Seattle Steelers?
Field Yates (1:55)
We can mention it. Here's what I would say.
Daniel Dopp (1:56)
You think it matters?
Mike Clay (1:57)
And we mentioned it.
Field Yates (1:58)
No, here's where I think it matters. It's not that I think Joe Mixon has standalone value. It's that I felt like there was a chance, I don't know about a strong chance, but a chance that Zach Charbonneau could return and take hold of this backfield enough that he might matter in 10 team leagues. If there's a world in which you have Zach Charbonneau and Emmanuel Wilson and George Helani probably playing on passing down backs, and Joe Mixon, because they didn't bring him to the... Joe Mixon is not going to go to Seattle's practice squad to sit there for the year and just play scout team. He went somewhere with the idea that he could probably play soon.
And Judarian Price is not a season-ending injury.
You're going to have at least four backs that matter on the active roster in given weeks. It may be that yesterday was further confirmation that by far the most likely outcome for the Seattle backfield is it's a stay away. Like enjoy the Emanuel Wilson ride you had this past week and probably will have again this week because Zach Charbonneau is not going to play because sooner rather than later, it's just going to be too many cooks in the kitchen.
Mike Clay (3:01)
Yeah, we'll talk more about this backfield, I think, here in waivers, but I think at some point this year, assuming their top guys get back to health, it'll settle in to two guys. I don't know if it's going to be Charbonneau and Price or Charbonneau and Mixon, but maybe Mixon just gets cut loose. He didn't play last year. It's possible it doesn't work out. We see that all the time. So, situation to monitor, but this is definitely a week by week proposition.
Field Yates (3:24)
By the way, a state of how banged up they are. They also are signing Robert Henry Jr. from the Commander's Practice Squad, which is not that I'm like, hey, you know, he was a talented runner at UTSA, had some things in his background, but they have to keep him on the roster for three weeks because of eligibility rules in the NFL. So for the next three weeks, they're carrying him, they're carrying Emmanuel Wilson and George Helani. Like maybe that's a sign that Zach Charbonnet, who's not going to play this week, might still be like two or three weeks away. So very cloudy backfield in Seattle will address Emmanuel Wilson's value in waivers.
