What does it love being at the ballpark? Well, the team I root for didn't do much today. They scored no damn runs. They gave up 18 hits, 10 runs, and they got their butt beat. Okay, it's game 100, Sox are 53 and 46, which before this game was played, the most they've been over 500 So that's something to celebrate. Hey, how about that? That's good to get excited, folks. So, you know, that's nice. We're at one more game to the season being over, which could be a positive. The White Sox could be in the postseason. It also could be a positive in the fact that your heart could be broken and maybe you just wanted to stop. I'm excited for the rest of the season. I know when you lose 10, nothing, some people aren't, but it's Noah Schultz versus Kumar Rocker. Thorpe has added a sinker and he is, I don't know why I'm talking about Drew Thorpe. We'll talk about him later. Okay. I made a rundown. Anyways, Noah Schultz versus Kumar Rocker. Top one, Mune does walk with Sox doing no damage. Bottom one, Wyatt Linkford with a lead off single, a nice play by Chase Midreth on the young grounder, but then Brandon Nimmo. Right down Broadway, a four seam fastball from Noah Schultz. It leaves the park two run homer, two nothing Texas after one. Top two, Sox go one, two, three. Peters had a nice liner, but it was at somebody. Bottom two, Marcus can't snag a liner, and it's an infield single by Colley, but Schultz does get around that one, thankfully. Top third, one, two, three, inning by the Sox. That's not going to help you win a baseball game. Bottom three, Young with a two out single. Nimmo them with a single, Young to third. And then Berger, Jake Berger getting his revenge. An RBI double, three nothing Texas. Doran is Cade looking. Go to the fourth, top four, Mune with a lead off single.
That don't drive them in. Bottom four, Diaz with an one out single, or sorry, one out double. And then Ozuna with an RBI single, four nothing Texas. And this is the point where my coworker Joey Christopoulos, I love Joey, annoyingly kept saying, pull them, pull them, after every hit. And I had to watch, I think, what? One, two, three, three more pull-ems from Joey. Because then Lopez would hit a bloop RBI single, making it five nothing. Nimmo would hit a single and make the bases loaded, and they would pull them. Schultz comes out, Trevor Richards comes in, Hekay's old friend, Jake Berger. Schultz, three and two-thirds innings pitched, 11 hits, five earned runs, no walks, two strikeouts, 80 pitches from Noah Schultz, 11 called strikes, five whiffs, 20% called strike whiff percentage, 20 batted ball events. I've done 100 games at this point. Couldn't tell you, last time a starter gave up 20 balls in play. So, I mean, I should be able to do that math.
Two simplified to eight is 1 4th. 1 4th of the balls that he threw were in play. That's not good. 88.5, average exit velocity. You know, maybe if it was around 80, maybe it's some grounders, maybe it's some bloops, right? He got hit hard, left and right. The biggest thing that stuck out was his pitch mix. We'll talk about that in just a second and what he did change and why I do think they may pursue another start with them. Top five, Soxco, one, two, three, Shocker. Bottom five, Duran with a double, Colley with a walk, Schweitzer comes in and Ozuna hits an RBI single. It's 7-0 Texas and then I write down, I'm done. So I went out to the balcony and just wrote down a little rundown for today. Did some research, try to put together a good show for the folks. This game sucked. This game was awful. This game was terrible. I truly have redeemed my love for baseball this year.
