Welcome to the CHGO White Sox Post Game Show, coming to you live from Studio West of our West Loop offices here in the downtown of Chicago.
I'm your host, Sean Anderson, alongside me, Herb Lawrence. Hello. If you follow him at EkranWall23, if you follow me at CHGO underscore White Sox and at Sean underscore W underscore Anderson, that doesn't matter.
I don't know if anything matters. I'm going to be honest with you. White Sox lose 2-0. They are swept by the Pittsburgh Pirates. And let's just go over the Sox offensive performance, shall we, over the last three games?
Herb Lawrence (1:08)
How long are you going to take? It's going to be... It's only an hour show, Sean.
Sean Anderson (1:11)
Well, well, let's see how long. Tuesday, six hits, no walks, 10Ks. Is that good or bad?
Herb Lawrence (1:16)
That's un-good.
Sean Anderson (1:17)
OK, last night, eight hits. Hey, three walks.
Herb Lawrence (1:21)
Hey, all right, here we go.
Sean Anderson (1:22)
Fourteen strikeouts. Is that good or un-bad?
Herb Lawrence (1:26)
That's all right.
Sean Anderson (1:26)
Or I guess un-good.
Herb Lawrence (1:27)
I mean, how many runs do they score?
Sean Anderson (1:29)
Not enough.
Herb Lawrence (1:30)
Two.
Sean Anderson (1:30)
OK, yeah, not enough.
Herb Lawrence (1:31)
That's bad.
Sean Anderson (1:32)
Tonight, two hits, two walks, ten strikeouts, and they were hitless through seven innings.
Herb Lawrence (1:41)
Ooh, that's not good.
That's real bad. I mean, this Pittsburgh team, while just getting over 500, as you heard in the broadcast with Conor McKnight and Steve Stone, has won their last five series, so it's a young team rounding into form. Now, the White Sox should have taken two out of three at minimum versus this team. And I see...
Sean Anderson (2:03)
Just, I mean, a game. I mean, set the bar a little lower. I mean, they just...
Anything.
Herb Lawrence (2:09)
Yeah, I didn't get it, people. You just... People are already jumping off the bandwagon. Let's hear the positivity.
Hey, it's terrible. This is bad. Feel how you want to feel. But don't, like, project your feelings onto us. We're going to feel how we want to feel. And you're going to feel how you're going to feel. This was a terrible series for this team. And it was not...
It was not of what this team has been all this year.
At any time, except for, like, the Boston series, where they just got a man hit by them. You see the White Sox give fight. You see them give effort, which they did today. They just didn't have it. And Pittsburgh's pitchers were pretty good. And Pittsburgh's hitters did exactly what they need to do, especially in that first game, to crush the White Sox in this series. It's a sad, sad series, especially at home, where the White Sox usually perform very well. But the positivity, guys, here it is. Still up a game and a half. So they have 16 games left. Cleveland has 15
Whoever has the better record, more than likely, out of those two schedules, is going to be one of the Ale Central champions. The other one, more than likely, unless Toronto gets really hot, or the White Sox or Cleveland get really bad, will be going to the playoffs as the sixth seed. So, yeah, it's bad. It's terrible. But I think, I feel that the White Sox are not done. You just don't do what they've done all season long just to have this collapse at the end. They've played poorly the last two weeks. I have faith in these guys. They have given me no indication that they're done winning this central division or getting to the playoffs.
Sean Anderson (3:51)
And shout out Moosa, who I believe is likely in the comments section, who on Twitter said, can't wait for you and Herb.
Herb Lawrence (3:58)
That's me.
Sean Anderson (3:58)
Yeah, that's you. To tell us, you guys, not to panic, and Cleveland sucks, and whatever nonsense y'all come up with, because you got carried away with this clearly average offense. Hey, look, I'm not gonna say that I didn't get carried away. I'm not gonna say that I predicted a 72 team, or win team, okay? I didn't think they'd be good this year. And then I came out, I believe, at some point in either June or July, saying that they would win the American League Central. I completely said that. If you wanna go back and clip it and be like, look at this dummy, that's fine.
