The White Sox took a much needed game from Cleveland today! After a tough two series vs. Pittsburgh and St. Louis, the Sox got off on the right foot vs. the Guardians. The Sox struggled to score early, but finally broke through with a BIG 6th inning. Miguel Vargas hit his 31st homer of the year.

Coming to you live from our West Loop offices. I'm Sean Anderson. That's Herb Lawrence. Hello. That's Malachi Hayes. Hola. The reporter for South Side Weekly, contributor for South Side Sox. That's Herb, my buddy.

We hang out, talk about the White Sox all the time. You should too, hit the like button. Make sure you subscribe to the CHGO Sports YouTube channel, being produced today by Chloe. Hey, I'm Mike. You got a mic. Sox wins 7-3. Maybe at some point, Chloe will tell us about Blue-Seph-er, the blue horse outside of the Denver Airport that I just learned about.

We'll keep it in the shotgun. I don't know if we're going to be short of topics to talk about today. I don't know if we're going to be getting to Blue-Seph-er, because the White Sox won 7-3 against Cleveland, and improved to 7-4 on the season series, which means they own the tiebreaker against Cleveland. Now, Talkeroo would say, don't stop now, boys. I'd like to see you win tomorrow. I'd take a win on Wednesday. But how are we feeling after a White Sox winner, period, emphasize exclamation against Cleveland?

Malachi Hayes (1:13)

I'm feeling a lot of catharsis right now, especially because I want to say this is like the 12th-ish time I've been in the studio for a post-gamer this year, and I've got a really bad record of them. And I feel like I've spent, I definitely spent both shows last week, I've spent a lot of time at this desk right here, kind of looking at the comment roll and saying, guys, it's going to be okay, baseball goes both ways. It's a long season and a lot of pendulum swinging, and a lot of little things went right for the Sox today that have not gone right for them in the past, over the past few weeks, or that we have consistently see other teams get away with. The baseball gods kind of smiled on them. And it's nice to see that faith a little bit, and it always swings the other way pay off because it's really felt like it did tonight.

I feel really good about the White Sox and how they responded to adversity. They come off of a series where the pirates, where they got swept at home, you're thinking, oh man, they're going to see St. Louis. Maybe they'll do well there, lose two out of three there, and by the skin of their teeth, if they don't have that Randall Gritchick, home run away from getting swept down there in St. Louis. And I can feel it. We were here, what, Wednesday or Thursday of last week, Sean, and the sky was falling. The White Sox had lost their way. Cleveland, which I've always said, is trash. If Cleveland was any damn good, they would have had this division because the White Sox have been trying to have anybody in the Central, hey, please come and take this division while we're struggling versus teams outside of the Central. When we get back into the Central, it's time to eat. It's time to eat. No, no, no, no, no. And it's Cleveland again. I don't care if it's this year or last year, like the White Sox are a different team when they see the AL Central. They don't get scared. They don't cower. They don't make mistakes. They just attack. And that is the testament of a true champion. And they will be the champions of the AL Central, like I told you they would a long time ago. And when they see Cleveland, it's not scary anymore because that man is hurt and that man is a shell of himself. So we're taking advantage of what Jose Ramirez is right now. So from what he was back in the day. So it's so good to have those people shut the hell up. Jose Ramirez, sit his ass to the bench.

Knock out that punk. Knock that out.

Yeah. Hell yeah.

And we're celebrating Timmy this week too. So knock that out, punk.

Remember when Emanuel Classe was filming himself in the clubhouse after the 2022 AL Central Division Championship after the White Sox? Where's Emanuel? I haven't seen Emanuel Classe in a while. Where's Emanuel Classe?

Herb Lawrence (3:49)

Let me check that out.

Sean Anderson (3:50)

Is he getting into some trouble recently where he's unable to play?

Herb Lawrence (3:54)

As my guy, Lawrence Holmes, who borrowed from me, I'm borrowing from him. It's Emanuel Classe, felony.

Sean Anderson (3:59)

Oh, OK.

I was a little worried. Our guy, Corey, is saying this guy is still kind of falling TBH. No, it's not.

I thought it was, though. You have the sweep against Pittsburgh and then you are by the skinnier teeth, two strikes, two outs down all run. Have a Grant Randall Gritchick who doesn't think it's gone off the bat, barely thinks it's fair, wobble to first base, like kind of drunk after he hits at Homer. Like you barely get a win on Saturday out of these past six games. And from James Fegan in the Sun Times on Sunday, like Gritchick said, beginning of the year, it was more like, let's prove people wrong. Let's just go play hard and see what happens. Now it's been more of a we're in a playoff spot. Let's not lose it type of vibe. No one's saying that. It just kind of feels like it could be a bit of that. And I am glad that the White Sox circled this series on their calendar and said, oh, it's a get right series. Yeah, we're playing Cleveland. We could beat Cleveland. And they did. They stomped them. There was a little bit of anxiety there. And we'll get to the top of the six where it all opens up for the White Sox. I mean, this was not a game where you were on cruise control, but the White Sox had the most momentum in this game. And it felt at some point they would break through. I believe the number was 18 for 118 with runners in scoring positions before the top of the sixth since the Houston series. So it's been real bleak, but they finally break on through.
