Hi, I'm Paul F. Tompkins.

Nicole Parker (0:01)

And I'm Nicole Parker.

Paul F. Tompkins (0:02)

On this podcast, we improvise in character using real posts from a popular neighborhood networking website.

Nicole Parker (0:07)

Occasionally, we change the names of some streets.

Paul F. Tompkins (0:10)

Paul F. Tompkins (0:25)

Knock, knock.

SPEAKER_3 (0:26)

Who's there?

Paul F. Tompkins (0:27)

Your neighbor.

Nicole Parker (0:29)

Good.

Paul F. Tompkins (0:53)

A big welcome, 10 plus one, style welcome.

Nicole Parker (0:58)

It's 11, for those of you who are figuring it out.

Paul F. Tompkins (1:00)

That's right, I was having fun.

Nicole Parker (1:01)

I know you were.

Paul F. Tompkins (1:02)

To The Neighborhood Listen, it's season 11, stylized in Wikipedia as season 11, Evan.

Nicole Parker (1:10)

Yes, this is really hard for me. We came up with this over the summer, and I still don't get it right, but we were trying to come up with, you know, we always come up with a name for our seasons. Last time was Tensational, right?

SPEAKER_4 (1:20)

That's right.

Nicole Parker (1:22)

This time, and this took me a really long, this came up, and then we were talking about the poster of Seven the Movie, and it was a whole thing. E11, Nevin, right?

SPEAKER_4 (1:31)

That's how we're saying it.

Paul F. Tompkins (1:31)

That's right.

Nicole Parker (1:32)

E11, Nevin. Yeah, it's gonna take a minute. It's gonna take a minute to sink in.

Paul F. Tompkins (1:35)

You've crushed it so far.

Nicole Parker (1:36)

Well, thank you. It's only because I'm reading it. I have to sort of look at it, and then like phonetically do it.

Paul F. Tompkins (1:40)

Reading is fundamental. That's what reading is, isn't it?

Nicole Parker (1:42)

It sure is. So, season 11, do we say 11 even, or 11 even?

Paul F. Tompkins (1:51)

E 11 even.

Nicole Parker (1:52)

E 11 even. Why do we say E 11? Why can't it be E 11 even?

Paul F. Tompkins (1:56)

Because it's easier to say E, I think.

Mindy Sterling (1:57)

I'm trying to help you.

Nicole Parker (1:58)

Okay, but no one says 11

Mindy Sterling (2:00)

I guess if you're British, you say...

Paul F. Tompkins (2:01)

People say E 11

Nicole Parker (2:01)

It's at 11 o'clock.

SPEAKER_3 (2:03)

E o 11

Paul F. Tompkins (2:06)

Don't you remember from the original Ocean's 11, Sammy Davis Jr.?

Nicole Parker (2:09)

Did he sing that?

Paul F. Tompkins (2:10)

Yes.

Nicole Parker (2:10)

Oh, I've never seen the original.

Paul F. Tompkins (2:12)

They had a song about 11

Nicole Parker (2:16)

They did. And that's how it became now a franchise.

Paul F. Tompkins (2:19)

And that's how it became now a franchise.

Nicole Parker (2:21)

And of course it was Ocean's 8 because it was ladies, so they had to take away three.

Paul F. Tompkins (2:24)

Yeah, so they make Ocean's 11

Nicole Parker (2:25)

Why do they have to subtract the number for the ladies?

Paul F. Tompkins (2:28)

I think to keep it fresh.

Nicole Parker (2:29)

That's not fresh.

Paul F. Tompkins (2:30)

Also to reflect the women's pay scale.

SPEAKER_4 (2:32)

Great. Good job, Burbista.

Paul F. Tompkins (2:33)

It should have been Ocean's 7

Nicole Parker (2:34)

You're trying to get me angry from the very beginning. You're not wrong. I appreciate you talking about it.

Paul F. Tompkins (2:38)

If it had been Ocean's 10, then the ladies' version would have been Ocean's 7 Because they make 10, they make 7 on the dollar, right?

SPEAKER_4 (2:46)

Yeah, this is fun.

Nicole Parker (2:47)

Let's laugh about it, Burnt. This is funny.

Paul F. Tompkins (2:49)

Joan!

SPEAKER_4 (2:50)

I know that you're an ally.

Nicole Parker (2:52)

I know you're an ally. I know you're an ally.

It just gets me angry.

Paul F. Tompkins (2:55)

I love pronouns.

Nicole Parker (2:56)

It gets my dander up. You know what I mean?

Paul F. Tompkins (2:58)

I understand.

Nicole Parker (2:58)

Do we know what that phrase came from?

Paul F. Tompkins (3:01)

Yeah, we probably do. I think that one's easy to track down.

Nicole Parker (3:05)

Babe, are you going to do an early chime in?

Paul F. Tompkins (3:07)

I thought I heard his voice from so far away.

SPEAKER_4 (3:09)

He's like, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Paul F. Tompkins (3:11)
