We will definitely turn it out. I'm your guy, Ike Jones. I am in here with Ceasar Walker, and we are just off of SEC Media Days.
The media got together to talk to all of the SEC and figure out what was going on, Ceasar, and they came up with all SEC preseason lists, and three Auburn Tigers were able to make that list.
No surprise, Xavier, Debo Atkins at linebacker, may be surprising that the next person on that list is Champ Anthony, third team, all SEC, and Alex McPherson, third team, all SEC. What are your thoughts on the three Tigers that made it? The three represent, well, two of the three representatives that made it to SEC Media Days are on the list. And the one person who we were surprised didn't make it to SEC Media Days is on the list, Xavier Atkins. I think many people thought he was going to be representing Auburn and Tampa. But as we discussed, I think the guys who did show up in Tampa, who showed up in Tampa with Ellis Golish, this selection made sense. Xavier Atkins is no surprise to me that he's first team. He should be first team. He had an amazing year last year on the DJ Durkin's defense, and I expect him to follow that up with another impressive performance this year, provided he stays healthy. And I expect him to earn a lot of postseason recognition and improve his draft stock. The kid is that good. He's flourished under this system. My hope for Xavier Atkins is that the defensive line does its job. Remember, he played behind an incredible defensive line last year that saw itself having a first-rounder in the NFL draft the following year in Keldrick Falk. So I'm hoping that he will see similar production out of the defensive line because that is what allowed the guy, the Xavier Atkins of the world to flourish. He had an amazing line in front of him. I hope he continues that. That's pretty much a trademark of the DJ Durkin's defense. So I would be surprised if he didn't have that. But that's definitely going to be important for him to really follow up an incredible 2025 campaign with an impressive year this year. I am a bit surprised with Champ Anthony, not because the kid isn't talented and that we've seen him make amazing plays. He just hasn't been able to stay on the field, Ike. Injuries have been holding him back. And I think that while I do believe that he is capable of being an All-SEC performer, he just has to stay healthy. But to me, I think that's the biggest question about him other than anything related to his ability, him being able to stay upright and on the field and being able to show what he can do in this defense. And Alex McPherson, quite honestly, I'm a bit biased. I think he should be higher. But again, like Champ Anthony, he hasn't been on the field. So it's kind of we know you good, but you haven't been playing a lot lately. So here's the third team recognition as a result. I expect if he stays healthy as well, I think he'll be higher than third team when the season ends for Auburn. Yeah. So, I mean, I have a question in terms of that, right? So Champ Anthony to me, I'm going to be completely honest, think he's a great guy. He was not on my ballot as a guy who I thought was going to be first team, All-SEC or anything. I'm happy that he was able to get that recognition because I do think he is an All-SEC caliber player. Do you think maybe him being at SEC Media Days and the media that was present, maybe not knowing as many defensive backs in the league, saying to themselves, oh, I talked to this Champ Anthony guy and he was one of the guys that was there, maybe his name being on their mind, put him a little higher on some of those ballots?
