Welcome to The Niche Is You. My name is Matt Gottesman, at Matt Gottesman on Instagram, and this is my daily podcast where I create short, quick hitting episodes to help you uncomplicate life, creativity, and the pursuit of your highest self. There's only main character energy here. Now let's get into it.
Welcome to episode 802, when you do what you're designed for, success is the default. When you do what you're designed for, success is the fault, your default. I wanted to talk about this because I was watching this great video online, which I'm going to play the audio here momentarily. I think it goes by Zach Networth on Instagram. And he was literally even using analogies like, like fish doesn't have to take swimming lessons. It was designed to swim. It's automatically, the swim is automatically in the fish. And like a bird doesn't have to take flight school.
The flight is already in the bird. And you know, I'll play the audio here momentarily, but it was just a really great flow that he was having, talking about how what you're here to do, what you were designed for, success is its automatic default, because that's literally what you're here to do and why you'll thrive because of it. And when we are disconnected, we can go after paths that are presented to us.
And you might even get parts of the external metrics calling that success, but still feel like something may be missing, or almost like you had to kind of force your will so hard to get some of those things, and yet it still doesn't feel full or fulfilled. And, you know, I was recently at a really great dinner with other entrepreneurs, all talking about the same things, where you know you can feel when something isn't aligned, and you may succeed at it, but it'll never feel the same as the piece you get when it's from something aligned. And, you know, and all these people were very successful in their fields, but even, and now here's the thing is, success is a default, even in their fields, liking their fields that they were in, still having to learn what is good for them in their field and what isn't, you know? And so meaning like where you're focusing your energy and attention for alignment and that you're designed for, like the people you do, you're supposed to serve, versus maybe the people that you're not supposed to focus on or whatever it might be, right? Alignment for the design is going to produce the fruit. It's going to produce the success. So I'm going to play this clip. I want you to hear it. And then we're going to jump into, you know, what this episode is going to be about.
**Zach Networth** (2:52)
So God created fish to swim, but fish don't have to take swimming lessons because the swim is already in the fish.
God created birds to fly, but birds don't have to attend flight school because the flight is already in the bird, right?
God created seeds to become trees, but seeds don't have to go to a gardening class because the tree is already in the seed. So you see, success is built in, but not only is success built in. If you are doing what God created you to do, success is actually the default. All of God's creation succeeds naturally when it functions according to its design. And humans are the same way, but the problem is most people are disconnected from design. Most people are trying to succeed outside of what they were created for, you know?
A fish looks untalented on land.
A bird looks weak underwater. A seed looks dead on the concrete. But none of them are failures. They're just in the wrong environment. So success isn't about effort. It's about alignment. When you are doing what God created you for, there's a different level of grace attached to it. And it's not because it's easy. It's because you are literally designed for it. You know, when a fish is swimming, it looks effortless. When a bird is flying, it looks effortless because they were literally built for that thing. You're the same way. When you are operating in your purpose, it should look effortless because success is literally just a byproduct of you being in the right environment and on the right assignment. So the problem isn't that success just isn't in you, but that you're trying to function somewhere God never designed for you to live.
**Matthew Gottesman** (4:40)
Isn't that great? And when you think about it too, this is your life in every department. This is why some environments just don't fit. There's nothing wrong maybe with the environment and for who it's intended for, but it may not just be designed for you to thrive. This is why certain people aren't there to help you thrive, and nothing wrong with those people. Just that maybe the people weren't designed for where you're supposed to be spending your time. So I love the fact that it was like when he said all of God's creature succeeds naturally when you do what it was designed.
