Hello, everybody, and welcome back to the It's Cringe, But It's True podcast, Addi Cutler. Welcome to the pod.

Addi Cutler (2:06)

Thanks for having me.

Ellie Ollivier (2:07)

So excited to have you. I have followed Addi on TikTok for a while, actually, and she posts a lot of fitness, health content, and immediately followed because she's the cutest ever. We met actually before this, just through friends a little bit, and you're just the cutest ever. So I'm so excited to get you on and kind of just chat with you.

Start by just telling us kind of like your fitness journey, how you got into this, and yeah.

Addi Cutler (2:31)

Yeah. Okay. So I started with the gym actually like back in elementary school. I just go with my dad like all the time.

And for me, it was just always just this habit at a young age. And I feel like for me, it's just always more about the mental health, not as far as like looks go. Obviously, it's like you want to look good. Yeah. But like for me, it's always about the mental health.

And I feel like it wasn't until this past year that I thought I've taken it a lot more seriously in the gym. It's just always just been something that was just a natural thing for me. Like, okay, like I got to get up, I got to go to the gym, start my day off right. That's kind of where it's always been.

Ellie Ollivier (3:11)

Did you grow up doing any like sports? Like was being active a big part of your life?

Addi Cutler (3:15)

Yeah. So I actually grew up doing cheer originally. At a young age. And then I switched to dance and I kind of went back and forth between the two of them. But yeah, I just like always love being active. And then I cheered in high school.

But yeah, I just, I just have always loved doing sports like that. Yeah.

Ellie Ollivier (3:35)

And you like do a lot of like weight lifting, right? Which has such a negative stigma. And I want to talk about this today because it gets like such a bad rep with women, that it's like going to make them bulky or like their body is going to like become like a man body, but it's like not true. Did you start with doing weights in your fitness journey? Like when you were younger, were you ever doing like running cardio pilates? Like what was your split? What did that look like for you?

Addi Cutler (4:00)

So yeah, I feel like it is a big topic of discussion with women, weightlifting in the gym and like being worried about getting like too big or like whatnot.

But I always started with weightlifting is always what I did. It wasn't until like the last year, I actually started getting to pilates too. And so I've like kind of formed this like routine of like, you know, weightlifting is your fundamentals, but also applying pilates or doing reformers, or just kind of switching it up, I feel like has helped me a lot. And so I feel you kind of can get like in a little bit of a, what's the right word for it? Like a little bit of like a funk with the gym sometimes, or it's just the same thing over and over. So like being able to switch it up and have variety of how to take care of yourself every day is like, a fun, fun thing to do.
