Welcome to The Niche Is You. My name is Matt Gottesman, at Matt Gottesman on Instagram, and this is my daily podcast, where I create short, quick hitting episodes to help you uncomplicate life, creativity, and the pursuit of your highest self. There's only main character energy here. Now let's get into it.

Welcome to episode 890 What if success is actually a life you like living? What if success is actually a life you like living? Listen, success, as you know, and as part of the, I think, founding principles of The Niche Is You, is what does that look like for you? Not what is constantly, I think, portrayed in society, because it then places often an unfair pressure as if something doesn't look like this, have I even done anything? Have I even made anything? Have I even, am I even worthy or whatever it is? And we've seen what's happened from decades of that. And so one of the many goals of The Niche Is You is to remind you to look at what would success look like for you? Again, that's big reason why the Clarity Workshop ever even existed in the show notes. Like the, you know, the thing that I always reference and like why I think it's so unbelievably important to have a relationship with like, Hey, what do I actually want? Like what does my day actually look like? And, you know, over the years, as an entrepreneur, you see so many things, whether in your own work or in other people's work. And, you know, I've mentioned this before, but I've witnessed, you know, and I'll always be respectful of names, but, you know, I remember, you know, a guest I had on a previous podcast, my previous podcast, who did a phenomenal job of going after, you know, building a company over like 10, 11 years and sold it for a beautiful amount of money. I mean, a lot. And afterwards, ended up in a little bit of depression, which I understand, you know, because that was this individual's life for so long. And because pursuit was a bigger thing. And, you know, but then, and then some of you were like, well, I don't know, with all that money. It's like, yeah, but like, suddenly everything was too quiet, and only that spent so much time trying to get the things, only to be like, wait a minute, this isn't what I thought I wanted. And then, you know, eventually, just saying, all right, I think I need to go step out and travel a bit and find myself. Right. So, you know, so you see, you see some of that too. And then, and then you also get a lot of the pressures, I think, whether online or in the real world of saying, people saying like, oh, here's, here's what will make your business successful. Only if it reaches, you know, 50 million a year, 10 million a year, five million dollar months or whatever it might be. And what's interesting, I've talked about this before, and I've seen several people now who've got big audiences talk about this online, which I really appreciate. They're like, have you actually done the math? You're like, so you mean to tell me that if you made like, you know, half a million dollars a year, a million dollars a year, and like, that's not enough. Like, have you done the math? And one gentleman, he was saying online, he's like, like really, really do the math. He's like, so if you, like you have like a million dollar a year of business, like let's say like you've worked to get to this place. He's like, if you're not careful, society will tell you like, oh, okay, well now you must get to 10 to be worthy. It's like, well, hold up a second. You know, what if you make great money, it's highly operationalized, you know, the costs are low, you have more time with family, more time for your health, more time, you know, and the money that comes in, you can actually invest it into other vehicles that earn for you, right? Smart money moves, you know what I'm saying? So there's ways when you get into mastery and craft and devotion and looking at like, okay, what am I creating? Like, what does my schedule look like? What does when money comes in, how does it work more for me? What does having more time and freedom for the things that matter for me? Like, these questions all can be asked. Now, again, it doesn't mean that you can't have a multi-billion dollar company or that you can't, you know, it's not, it's not, that's not the thing. The thing is that I believe the success is the, that the metrics are the byproduct of a life you're intentionally creating. That's what I mean. And then, and then when you create a life intentionally, it has capacity for expansion of things that come. And I think that also when you're less pressure and force, haven't you all noticed this, that like all of a sudden everything kind of comes, and you're like, oh wow, I wasn't pressuring and forcing things. Like, no. And because you were developing what was in front of you so well, stewardship, it had the ability for more to come in. So, I want to challenge that what is the point of becoming successful if you don't actually like the life that success is creating? And what does a successful life look like to you that would feel good living? That's what I want to accomplish here in this episode. So, few points to keep up with this week's theme. I want to go over here in this episode, which is, one, having enough time to actually enjoy the life you worked so hard to build. Two, oh, and this was like my take on like, maybe success is, right? Two, being able to say no without worrying about what you might miss. Three, not needing everyone to understand the choices you've made. Four, doing work you respect, even when nobody is applauding it. These are just some of the things for me that I think success looks like. Five, having relationships that don't require you to abandon yourself to keep them.
