Hey, what's going on, everybody? Welcome to The Daily AI Show. Today is September 29th, 2026 And today, I have Andy and Anne in the house, I don't know, in the studio, whatever, in the Das Haus.

Sounds funny.

So welcome, guys. Glad you're here. I'm Brian. And yeah, we're live every day at 10 a.m. Eastern, so if you happen to be catching us for the first time, well, we're here Monday through Friday, so you can always come back and hang out with us some more. If you want to be part of the live chat, I always recommend going over to YouTube to be part of that, but that's OK if you don't. If you happen to, you know, the hundreds and hundreds of you who see us daily and download our shows on Spotify and all the places that we see through the analytics, we know the vast, vast majority of you are catching us at some other time, and that's totally fine as well. Just know that you can join thedailyaishowcommunity.com is the easiest way to do that, and you'll see an invite to a Slack community from me. It's an invite from me, and it will take you into the Slack community, which is a great way to continue interacting with the show, even when you can't be with us live. Of course, we love the folks like Jeff, who's already in our live comments, reminding us that it is Dev Day. I just had a great, and Cisco as well, morning Cisco, I just had a great TikTok yesterday.

You guys, I'm 49, right? I was a high schooler in the 92 to 96 range in college from 96 to 2,000. Somebody was doing a great review of some of the up and coming teen movies that were big, Ken Harley, Wait, Empire Records. These were big movies for that time of my life.

They were reminding me of like in one of them, if you know Empire Records, it's Rex Manning Day. That's what I feel like right now. People are like, it's Dev Day, it's Dev Day. What are we going to learn? What's the O mean? What is Sam talking about? Yesterday Sam said, what was his quote? Sorry, one second. I got to go back one from the article. He shared an article from David George called OpenAI understands something important and rare. Sam quoted over the top of that, pretty excited for Dev Day tomorrow. We have found a new thing. That was Sam's message on X yesterday. If you read into the article, which I thought was funny because people were like, what new thing? What new thing? He's referring, there's a whole article. He shared it. You got to go one step further. What is all the comments on X? It's like Grok explained this to me. I'm like, at some point, man, you just got to click, open the article and read the thing. All will be revealed.

Obviously, the article isn't saying what the new thing is. What it was actually pointing out, this guy David George is pointing out is that, OpenAI is uniquely good at this and finding the new thing, be it a ChatGPT or other things. Sam was commenting on that. What does it mean? What we know today? Who knows? Who knows? What we'll find out with Dev Day. Traditionally, Dev Day isn't about, it's about Devs. You're more likely to find big announcements with things like the APIs or faster models. Hey Beth, Beth joined us. I see you have power. That's nice.

Beth (3:09)

For how long? We have no idea. But I have it. Yeah.

Brian (3:13)

Was it a planned power outage, Beth? Is that what it was?

Beth (3:16)

Yes. Yesterday, they said power outage at 7:30 AM. Today at 9.15, today they said power outage at 9.3 today.

Karl (3:25)

As it happened yet.

Beth (3:26)

I don't think it happened before.

Brian (3:28)

Fun for everybody who works and kids and everything. Super fun. Just to keep everybody on their toes about when we're going to turn off the power audio.

Beth (3:36)

When I blink, that's what I do.

Brian (3:38)

Exactly. If you see Beth drop off, we know why and she'll be back. I was just saying Dev Day today, Beth.

Dev Day today, Beth.

Andy (3:54)

Say it again.

Brian (3:56)

I know. By the way, there's a lot of this. Dev Day to me is not even the coolest news that came out of yesterday. I'm more than happy to open this up to the group, not the other one.

Andy (4:05)

Well, before you leave Dev Day, I'm just going to share a couple of things I saw on X. One is that there's going to be 20 things that they ship in this Dev Day. So that's a lot of announcements.
