The Daily AI Show

June 18, 2026

The episode opened with Midjourney Medical, an ultrasonic scanning concept aimed at making preventative full-body imaging faster, cheaper, and more spa-like than traditional MRI workflows.

Hey, what's going on, everybody? Welcome to The Daily AI Show Live. It's 10 a.m. on the East Coast. With me today are Beth and Andy, and I'm Brian. Appreciate you being here. This is episode 749, I think. That sounds right. 747 is two days ago, which made me think of the airplane.
So 749
Hey, everybody in the comments jumping in already. Appreciate you being here. And yeah, let's kind of kick off this Thursday. It's a short week for me. Tomorrow, I have Juneteenth off, so happy to have a four-day work week at work and all things, all sorts of things planned for tomorrow, not work-related, which is kind of nice.
So yeah, let's kind of kick it off with some news. I know we hit quite a bit yesterday when we had Junie on the show as well as his really interesting segment for AI and science, which is actually really cool. Highly recommend you going back and checking that out. It's towards the end-ish of the show, probably past 45 minutes if you want to scrub to it. But that was really good as well as all the other news. We did a little bit deeper dive yesterday into SpaceX and Cursor, just talking about what does that mean? Why is that valuable to SpaceX? Well, Junie and Andy, you guys both weighed in on that, which was really nice as well. Make sure you go check out not only yesterday's show, but other shows if you missed them this week. Of course, you can always play along live by being in the YouTube chat. That's the easiest way to be with us live as people are already doing now.
But if you can't be with us live, we totally understand that one hour a day is hard to hit if your schedule doesn't match up with that. So the next best way to do that is to be part of our community. It's free. It's a Slack community. There's nothing fancy about it other than to say you can go to the Daily AI Show community.com. It's on the top of the screen right now. And you can go sign up for our, and sign up or log in to our community. I think that's what I wanted to say there. So make sure you do that as well. It's another great way to be part of the conversation, even if you can't be with us live. All right. That's all the intro I have. So let me kind of kick it over to you guys. I don't have a couple of different stories here with, I think, well, yeah, let me kick it over to you guys. What did you see? I have a weird Midjourney one. Did you guys pick up a Midjourney story today? All right, Beth, what did you pick up on that? Because I was like, this is different.

**Beth** (2:26)
So Midjourney prefaced the, we're going to do a live stream, we got something we want to drop, we got something we want to share, and that's not typical for them. They certainly do build up to the drop of a new model or the drop of a new segment of a model, new abilities. But you can be on a committee for that and rate things, that's not a secret when it's happening.
This was a very interesting thing, and David Holes is a very interesting creator, founder. What they dropped last night was Midjourney Medical. The story behind it is it's basically an ultrasonic ultrasound scanner, and it's coming at what MRIs do cheaper.
Right now, it's not an AI tool either. It's literally just looking at a different way of scanning the body. One of the ways that he described it is it's the combination of an MRI and a spa. It wants to make preventative medicine scanning as relaxed as going to the spa and as common as some of the other preventative medicines, like taking your blood pressure on a regular basis or using a glucometer to see where your sugar levels are. Super exciting. The other piece of this is that David Holtz created or founded Leap Motion, which he went the traditional founder route. He got funded, he did the thing, he did not enjoy that.
No more investments, thank you. What his process is to self-fund, and Midjourney doesn't have investors. Midjourney answers to Midjourney, right? The core people who built it together, and they answered to the, obviously, if they totally made it horrible, they would need to answer to the people who subscribe. But it's a very different founder relationship, and so he's interested in this. He's a physics guy. He's not an AI guy or an artist guy or whatever. He's a physics guy. He's interested in the way that information can be perceived and acted on.
