Something very strange is going on in Montauk, New York, and it seems to have been going on for a very long time. For a little beach town sitting on the end of Long Island, there's quite a few abandoned military bases and research facilities. And there's definitely too many locals that don't like when you bring up all of the odd behavior going on. We thought that this place was a sweet vacation spot, but we had no idea how dangerous it really was until we got there. If you're a regular viewer of the channel, please like the video now, you know it's going to be good. If this is your first time here, please consider subscribing. And if you like this video, the channel was made to binge. So go ahead and start.
So my family tries to get together once a year for some type of beach vacation. But I'm going to be honest with you, my family doesn't really have beach vacation money. So it always ends up being some beach town that you've never heard of, because it's not very popular in general. And we usually have to stay not very close to the beach and lug all of our stuff to the beach every single day. And a few years ago, my family chose Montauk, New York. If you've never heard of it, it is all the way on the edge of Long Island. So if you fly into JFK, you take the Long Island Railroad to Long Island, and you got to make your way all the way to the end. And to be honest, it's better than what you think it would be. I don't think many people think of New York for beach vacation, but like I said, we had to pick the odd spots. And the thing that was really odd about this particular spot was where we were staying. Because one of my uncles got an absolute steal for this vacation, nobody had to pay for a thing. We were staying at one of his buddy's houses. It was supposed to be a rental property for him, but nobody was really renting it. And he didn't tell us why nobody was renting it until we were pulling up to it. You know, we drive by these cute little beach towns, all of these awesome houses with an ocean view, and we make our way into a pretty woodsy area where there's not much around. And he starts to tell us that his buddy had bought this property in the early 1990s, because apparently this whole area in the 1980s was some type of military base. But they eventually shut down everything that they had going on, and all of these small residences where some of the workers would stay sold for pennies on the dollar, because nobody wanted to live over here. And he's telling us as if it's this awesome thing, like it's the opportunity of a lifetime, but everybody's taking it as like, so we're staying at some military installation in the woods when we're supposed to be spending this vacation at the beach, but we were used to it. So everybody got over it pretty quickly. And we pull up to this property that has multiple little houses on it, which was really cool, because the only person that was there that was my age was my cousin Nicky, who happens to be one of my favorite cousins. And we got to stay in the secondary house that had its own bathroom and kitchen, and cool bunk beds. We were pretty excited that we were separated from all of the adults. So it was kind of a win for us. So anyway, we spend the first day, everybody's settling in, we're not trying to lug all the way to the beach that day. They're like, go explore the area, dinner's gonna be in a few hours. We're here for a week, so there's no pressure to do anything tonight. So we do exactly that. We wander the area, there's some cool trails, there's definitely some cool buildings. And we come across this one building that is absolutely bizarre. There's some old fences in front of it, it's this big block-like building. Almost kind of looks like a detention center, but it has this massive, lack of a better term, antenna on the top of it. Actually, I guess it's closer to a satellite dish meets an antenna, but it was huge. We spent a little bit of time circling that building because of how unique it looked. But eventually, we found a few other spots that almost seemed like entrances to an underground base. There were some signs out front that said, Battery 113, with some brief description of what this was, what military installation this was. And it was pretty cool in general, being in a place that used to be so high functioning, but now it's abandoned. It was almost a little museum in itself. So after a fun day of doing that, we go back home to our property, to our little chalet separate from the parents. We let them know that we're there, but they're already starting their festivities. Big Italian family, they're popping up in the wine, laughing, playing music. The kids don't exist at this point, and they're in the main house. But they know that we're home, so they're not worried whatsoever. They're enjoying the festivities. So we go to our little house, which we're really pumped to hang out for the rest of the night. But as we walk in, we hear something inside of our little house. And mind you, the door was completely locked. It didn't seem like anybody forced their way in. But when we open the door, we clearly hear somebody inside, and it sounds like they're talking to somebody. But who they're talking to is coming through a staticky radio. You could barely make out what that voice is saying, but the person that's responding to them seems really, really excited. So we quietly open this door. We make our way in, we wanna see who this is before we confront them, so we have to jump on them. And they're not in the kitchen or the bedroom, they're in this small room that's almost like a back office area, which we didn't spend any time in. There was a desk, some bookshelves, a closet, pretty much a storage room, and they're tearing through this thing. We hear them pulling open drawers, ripping open cabinets, popping open the closet door, moving things around. They seem frantic. And as we're continuing to listen to them, they're reporting to whoever's over this radio, they're saying things like, it worked, but I can't find it. It worked, but I cannot find anything. Where are my things? But there's a twinge of excitement. Every time they say it worked, there was just something a little bit off. And now we're all the way up to the door, and we're looking in and we're watching this guy. He's an old gentleman, completely white hair, a cul-de-sac for a haircut because he was balding, and a white lab coat all the way down to his ankles. To me, he looked like a doctor or somebody that was in a science lab, and he's going through the drawers, and I hear him mumbling to himself, somebody must have been in here, and he's reporting back, my things are gone. And there's a franticness to him that is leading me to believe that not that he's crazy, but he's declining because he seems really freaked out that he has misplaced his things or somebody has taken his things. But the static that's coming in through the radio is absolute gibberish. I think he's talking to himself. So naturally, I go, sir, are you OK? Because he didn't seem to be trying to steal. He didn't seem to be violent by any means. He seemed to be in the wrong house and confused. When he looks at us, he's not scared of us. He doesn't seem like he's disturbed that we caught him doing what he was doing. It almost confirmed to me that he had something mental going on because the look that he gave us was, you guys are in my delusion with me now. I don't care that you're here. Whatever's going on in my head is very real, and I'm bringing you guys into it. And he asks us, did you take my things? Who let you in here? And us not really knowing what to say because it's a bit of an explanation. My uncle's friend let us stay here. Is this a place that you rent? Like we don't even know if we're actually allowed to use this secondary house. Maybe we were only renting the main house, and this is an awkward situation. So we start backpedaling because he is walking towards us, and we get all the way into the kitchen. He comes in there with us looking borderline crazy-eyed. His hair a lot more wacky and frizzy than I initially realized. He looks back at us. He goes, this isn't my kitchen. And Nicky in a very calm voice says, sir, I think you're in the wrong house. We didn't mean to alarm you. We're renting this this week. And then he touches his radio, and then he presses a button on his radio and he speaks into it. I don't know where he sent me. I'm coming back to base. And then his demeanor really changes, and he looks us up and down. And right then, he seems a bit scared. We're not gonna do anything to this guy. I'm genuinely concerned for him. And now that I'm seeing him from head to toe, he is dressed like a doctor. And I see on his lab coat, it has a name stitched into it. It says Nichols. Not Nichols like the coins, but like Nichols, the name. And he's looking me up and down too. And I could tell there's something about us that is really setting him on edge. And he starts shaking his head saying, I shouldn't be here. Which we totally agree with. But the way he's saying it is different than the way that we would be implying it. And then he darts. He's moving for an old man. But he makes his way back through the house directly to the back door, which also was completely closed and locked. And we follow him instinctively, partially because I just didn't want him to fall. Like, I'm worried he's gonna fall and crack a hip. So we're not chasing him trying to catch him. We're chasing him out of concern. But he goes directly to a door that he would only really know about if he had been here before. He was moving through this small house, like he was very familiar with it. And he gets out of the door, we're pleading to him like, sir, like, we're not gonna hurt you. Like, there's no reason to run. But he gets out of that back door and he continues to run away from us. And we're chasing after him. I'm looking towards the main house to see if any of our parents or aunts and uncles are noticing what's happening out here, but they're completely oblivious, seeming to have the time of their life inside. And this man just keeps running. And it sounds like his radio is getting louder, but now we're running, the footsteps are loud, the huffing and puffing. But it sounds like the voice from the radio is getting clearer, the more we're chasing him. And Nicky and I are looking at each other and we're like, this doesn't seem good. This dude is gonna pass out. Like, he is not in shape to do this. And we hear him shouting into this radio, turn it towards me, turn it towards me. We have no idea what he's talking about. But the person on the radio is now replying in a much more clear voice, like they're taking his orders and letting him know that they are fulfilling what he's asking for. In military like terminology, we continue to follow this guy. And it's like three to five minutes now. And at this point, we are just genuinely curious where this guy is going. Definitely considering like, do we call the police about this? This is actually very weird until we get to the clearing where we see that bizarre building again. And he's running directly towards it. I know what you're thinking. Could we have run around him and stopped him? Absolutely. Could we have tackled him and questioned him? For sure. We kind of just wanted to see where he was going. There was no harm done. It was just a confusing situation that we kind of wanted to see unfold. Yes, were we telling him like, hey, we're not going to hurt you. Do you need help? Of course we're saying that, but he's not listening. And our internal monologue in the looks that we're giving each other is, let's just see where this guy goes. And we see he's going towards this big building with this satellite dish antenna on it that was completely rusted out, by the way. This is an abandoned building, really old, a really old device on the roof of it. But as we're going towards it and this person is speaking back to him, this big satellite dish, we hear it turn on, big creaks, and it starts turning really slowly towards us as we're getting closer to it. And he's reporting back to the person over the radio, it's turning and saying like it needs to get there. And we are so confused, we were positive that this place was abandoned. And he makes his way through a slit in one of the fences that was not very noticeable unless you were checking the fences all the way around, but he knew exactly where it was. And he climbs through it and we climbed through it too. And it's this final stretch, much like a front yard from the fence to this large brick building. And we're just chasing after him, but we eventually slow down because he's running directly towards a brick wall. And this big dish is turning towards us at the exact same time and we hear it clank into place as he's getting up to the building. And he hasn't slowed down one bit. We are so worried and we're yelling towards him like, hey dude, slow down. Again pleading, we're not gonna hurt you dude. And as this thing clanks into place and he reaches this brick wall, I'm so concerned for him. He goes straight through it. He goes through this brick wall like it's not even there, like it doesn't exist and he's gone. He didn't run through it like he was some type of superhuman. It was as if he faded through it, completely disappeared. And we stumble up to it, cause we started to slow down, but once he was gone, we took those final few steps forward. We couldn't help but to touch it. And we reach towards this brick wall that we just watched this man slip through. And it is as solid as ever. But right when I touched the building, I feel a hum coming off of it. And I look towards Nicky to make sure that he felt it too. And we both pulled away from the building, but the hum didn't leave. I felt it on my hands and in my fingers. It almost feels like when you accidentally zap yourself in an outlet. Felt like being electrocuted slightly. And it went directly to my teeth, through my fingers, up my arm, and then it felt like my teeth were humming. And I'm touching my face and Nicky goes, do you feel that? And I'm moving my tongue all around my mouth because it literally feels like my teeth are vibrating, like they're humming, there's almost like an itch to it. We back away from this building, now I'm thinking, we're catching some radiation. I'm sure everybody's seen the Chernobyl movie, I'm freaking out now. Some old military base rusted out, disc on the roof turning towards us, old freaky men phasing through walls. I think my flesh is going to be turning into goop within the next few hours because of all the radiation that I picked up. We back away from this building, we go back through that fence, and we make our way back to the house that we're staying at. And eventually, only after a minute or two, the humming in the teeth stops. And Mickey and I are like, I think we're good. You think we're good? He's like, I think we're good. The parents and the aunts and uncles are completely oblivious. We go back to our little house, we go inside and we go back to that room that he was tearing through. Because what was he looking for? You get curious. He kept saying he couldn't find stuff. Where are his things? So we start looking around, and we have four hands, and we have all the time in the world. After about two hours of looking through completely empty, meaningless drawers and closets, we decide to get a little creative. We go to the bedroom, we see if there's access to some attic, there's nothing there. We're looking behind bookcases to see if there's a safe in the wall, anything that he could be hiding. We drag the bed away from the wall, and I see one of the planks in the hardwood that looks like it was carved out, like somebody took a straight razor and cut through the finish that keeps all of the hardwood together. And there was a little nick that you could put your finger in and you pull. And I yanked up this floorboard, and inside was a stack of folders, a nice fat stack of folders that I pulled out. And right on the front, it says Nichols. Not like a big title page in the middle, but in the top right corner, Nichols. And we start going through these things. Clearly scientific study, a lot of results, a lot of data that we can't really decipher. But one of the folders that Nicky pulled out of this big bundle said, remote viewing on the top right corner. And we're looking through this. There's a bunch of weird little stories in there. Bunch of weird results from weird experiments. And each experiment, like each test, there was a photo attached via a paper clip to the top of it, like a Polaroid. And there's dates and it's all of this is 1980s. We're flipping through it. It's random locations, usually just a picture of a landscape of some sort. But then we turn the page and we see a very different test. You could tell that this test had more details. There was much more highlighted. There was more bold text. This one meant something. One of the lines said, first test of human interaction. And we look at the Polaroid and the setting is a beach. And there's two men in this Polaroid, looking at the camera as if they just realized something, almost like a eureka moment. You could tell it was a slightly tense situation, but on a beautiful beach. And I'm looking at me and Nick in this Polaroid photo that's all banged up with a signed date on the bottom of it. It's 1983 and we look at each other, not even slightly understanding how that could possibly be us in that photo, because we're looking right at the camera and we had never been to that beach before. Be honest, is there a doctor's appointment that you're putting off? Mine sat on my to-do list for months. Every time I worked up the nerve to finally call, it was phone tag, annoying hold music. And when I finally got through, they would tell me that the next opening was months away. So I'd close the tab and tell myself that I'd deal with it later. But then I found Zocdoc, who's sponsoring this video. And I don't want anybody else stuck in this same loop. Zocdoc fixes the exact parts of this process that make you want to avoid doing it in the first place. You can search and compare high quality in-network doctors right from your phone and actually read real reviews from real patients. And all of the patients have detailed profiles. I chose my doctor based on my own preferences, not some algorithm deciding for me. And the appointments themselves, they move fast. After months of avoiding it, mine got booked within 48 hours. And some people even score same day appointments. And don't let me forget to mention that it's free to use. Your health matters and taking care of yourself shouldn't be complicated. Find and book the right doctor with Zocdoc. Head to zocdoc.com/dougie to get started and check that appointment off your to-do list. That's zocdoc.com/dougie.
