Welcome to Plathville 4.1 - The Universe Had Different Plans

The Sister Wives Professor

October 8, 2026

We're back to Plathville! Time to start season 4 and see what's happened since we last checked in. Some Plaths have made it to Tampa, but Max (who sucks) is absent for ominous reasons. Micah is living his best life in LA. And Kim is making major changes that are making Barry very nervous.

Well, hello there, and as always, welcome to The Sister Wives Professor, that is me. My name is Dr. Adam, former professor of communication and longtime follower of reality television, including, yes, the show Welcome to Plathville, which we are back. We're back with the Plaths today. Can you believe it? It has been quite some time. I always get whiplash switching between Seeking Sister Wife and Welcome to Plathville, because if you don't know, I just finished up a season, an older season of Seeking Sister Wife, and I've done Welcome to Plathville, seasons one through three. Those are all in the archives. If you haven't heard them, and if you want to hear them, they are available to you, however you were listening to this. But I have not covered season four yet of Welcome to Plathville, and that's what we're starting today.

Finally getting back to it, getting back to those wacky and concerning Plath family members. That's what we're doing today, and I'm really excited to do this. I said, if you heard, my premiere episode for Sister Wives, season 21, if you heard that earlier this week. I said I didn't think I'd necessarily get a Plathville done, but I'm feeling better, I'm feeling pretty good, and I'm really ready to talk about it. It's been so long since we've talked about the Plaths. It's been months and months, and I've had a break. I kind of needed a break from the Plath family. That's how I kind of feel whenever I cover a show. Once I finish up a season, unless it's Sister Wives, I'm like, I kind of need a break. I need to do something different. I never get tired of Sister Wives. I don't know what it is, it just has the juice. I don't get that tired of the other shows. It's just, it's fun to do different things. It's fun to do different things, and so I'm glad that I get to do that, and I'm really glad that you're here with me, allowing me to do that, because without you, this is not nearly so fun, believe me. I have done a podcast with no audience. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it's not nearly as fun as us. So yeah, we're getting back to it. We're getting back to the Plaths. It is time. It is time to return to Plathville, you and me. So no more preamble. Let's just get to the episode. Welcome to Plathville, season four, episode one. The universe had different plans. I know how that goes. The universe has quite a sense of humor sometimes. Have you found that to be the case? I found that to be the case.

Okay, let's get to it. Are you ready? I'm so ready. When we last left the Plath family, Max, Ethan, Olivia, Mariah, they were all moving to Tampa to start their new lives together. So we're going to find out how that worked out and who went and who didn't. But in fact, we start in Cairo at the Plath family home. Lydia's singing to herself in a bedroom, just kind of putzing around cleaning. Always cleaning that young lady. Some of her younger sisters are around too. Lydia's singing some sort of church music. I'm sorry, I didn't recognize it off the top of my head, which probably doesn't shock you, but that's what happens. Then we cut, smash cut to some hippity hop music. Boomin throughout the house, kind of bleeding through all the walls. That's got to be pretty loud, if that was the case. It might have been a post-production thing, but if so, it was pretty effective. Either way, some of the Plath ladies are dancing. Lydia enters the room to see Kim and the younger girls doing some synchronized dance moves. Lydia joins in, it's a whole scene. It's very fun. It's very sweet. Good for them. You know, there's nothing wrong with it. Good clean fun. The fact that some of them are doing this dance in heels is impressive and terrifying. That's how you should feel about women. Any men listening to this, you should be impressed and terrified by women. That's the way to go. If you're not scared of your girl, you're doing it wrong.

That's a joke to make my wife laugh. She doesn't watch Welcome to Plathville. She also doesn't listen to my podcast, which is fine. Not a big deal, but still. Just because she's not listening doesn't mean I'm not trying to make her laugh. Put in the effort, gentlemen, it's not that hard. So they're dancing. Kim and the girls, they're dancing. And Kim announces things are very different now in K-Row. She's raised 10 kids over 20 some years, and she feels that she lost herself in the process.
