The federal government loans American International Group, AIG, $85 billion. This is a different kind of market and the Fed is asleep.

SPEAKER_4 (0:35)

The federal government is stepping in to stabilize Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the two mortgage giants that have been threatened by the housing crisis.

The Bank of England has pumped $75 billion more into Britain's ailing economy. The new round of quantitative easing.

SPEAKER_1 (0:47)

You print a couple trillion dollars and all of a sudden, people start to worry. So out of this worry, we have something called the Bitcoin.

Matt Walsh (0:54)

Welcome to On The Brink, I'm Matt Walsh.

Nic Carter (0:56)

And I'm Nic Carter.

Matt Walsh (0:57)

So you're recording from a remote location today. You on a ranch right now?

Nic Carter (1:01)

I was. Yeah.

Actually, shout outs to Paul McCaffrey and KBW. They hosted just the most incredible summit here in Montana. A state I've never been before, actually.

Matt Walsh (1:13)

I love Montana.

Nic Carter (1:15)

I'm sold. I like Wyoming too. I like Montana. I like the whole West.

Matt Walsh (1:19)

The whole West is great. And once they get cloud seeding out there, can you imagine what the West is going to look like?

Nic Carter (1:25)

Yeah, I was actually talking to my Uber driver and he's like, he was complaining about the data centers sucking up all the water. And apparently water is a pretty scarce resource out here. He was also complaining about the golf courses for what it's worth.

Matt Walsh (1:39)

Oh, really?

Nic Carter (1:40)

You know how the pro data center people say you should also complain about the golf courses?

Matt Walsh (1:46)

Yeah.

Nic Carter (1:47)

People are, as it turns out, they're also upset about the golf courses.

Matt Walsh (1:51)

So Malcolm Gladwell has been all over the golf courses for years. But I think once you can control the weather via cloud seeding, you're just going to put those clouds. I still don't really understand how that's going to work. But you seed these clouds, how do you control where they go? Because I think the idea is you want them in some of these areas that are drought ridden, but also for data centers. You'd want them close to data centers.

Nic Carter (2:14)

Yeah. I mean, I just take an abundance mindset and technological progress is going to solve all of these climate issues, in my opinion.

As opposed to us being fearful and scared and, you know, resentful all the time. What if we just like solve all these problems like technology, you know, like I even climate change. This is probably my most unpopular opinion and I have a lot. I truly believe that we're just going to instantly fix it by putting aerosolized sulfates in the atmosphere.

Matt Walsh (2:46)

Yeah, you've talked about that before.

Nic Carter (2:47)

So and I live my truth on this. I've bought a balloon full of sulfates and I've offset like a decade's worth of my emissions by cooling the earth a little bit.

Matt Walsh (3:00)

Didn't even know you could do that.

Nic Carter (3:02)

Yeah, you can. Making sunsets. I'm not an investor. It's a cool company. So yeah, I think China one day it's going to get kind of hot and they're going to be like, well, let's just instantly fix this for like $500 million, super cheap.

There's one downside though.

Matt Walsh (3:16)

What's that? That you don't get to see the sun.

Nic Carter (3:19)

Well, the sky will no longer be blue.

Matt Walsh (3:23)

Yes, we've talked about this. I think that's going to be deeply unpopular.

Nic Carter (3:28)

I'm in the big sky state, they call it. The sky is actually bigger here, it's true. I was thinking to myself, in a decade, there might not be any blue sky left.

Matt Walsh (3:36)

What color would it be? Gray?

Nic Carter (3:38)

Gray. Yeah, so that's actually a bit of an unfortunate trade-off.
