Four teams are on by this week, meaning that you might not be starting the guys that you drafted to be starters. And today, Dan Hindery and I, we're going to talk about some players that you can look at as potential starters, some guys that might want to bench, and then we'll look at a quarterback and tight end streamer from each of us that you can rely on in week six. Dan, go ahead and start us off. Who's the first guy that you are starting in week six lineups?
Dan Hindery (0:33)
Yeah, I'm going to go with Marshawn Lloyd this week. I have him ranked as running back 23, and he's been a guy who's been a big disappointment this season. I was drafting him pre-blow up, before his ADP went nuts, and I was thinking I got a nice bargain, and he's just been so disappointing. I think actually last time I did this show was week two, and you had him as your running back sit, which turned out to be a really good call. But this is a spot where I think you can kind of go back to him this week. He has three things working for him that get me a little bit excited. One is he has the best matchup of the week. Second, there's been some injuries that have opened the door, kind of give him a second chance. And then there's some like narrative stuff that I'm starting to buy into. But I guess like starting with the matchup, which is probably the biggest thing.
He has the best matchup of the week, according to my numbers, against the Cowboys. So I have a new tool coming out for football guys, and I'm excited about that. It takes into account a lot of different factors that come up with matchup ratings for each player. And Lloyd has the best one this week at running back. The Cowboys have given up 25.3 PPR points a game to opposing backs, five yards per carry on running plays. So and then it's also just in terms of the overall spot for the Packers, they have the fourth highest team total on the slate, behind only the Bills, the Rams and the 49ers. So and then the Cowboys are also expected to score a lot. So this is one of those games where you could easily see like a 35-33 type of game script. So everything points towards the running backs being a nice play here. So then it just comes down to like, will Lloyd have a decent share of this backfield? And you know, it feels like a lot of stuff is broken right for him. And he's needed it. Like he kind of struggled early on. So it's like he's getting a third chance, a fourth chance. And the Chris Brooks injury in week four, I think opened the door for him a little bit. He's had about half the snaps played both of the games since that injury happened.
Pierre Strong has kind of stepped up into the into the main like pass catching role, and he did out target Lloyd four to two last week. So that's a little disappointing.
But Caleb Johnson has fallen mostly out of the rotation. He didn't get a single carry last week until kind of garbage time when the Packers were up 17 plus. So it has been kind of a two man backfield with Lloyd leading the way and then just strong coming in, mainly on passing downs and doing a lot of pass blocking. And then there's kind of a narrative angle, and this might be me like kind of rose colored glasses looking at this, but it felt like there's a big sigh of relief from the Packers and from Lloyd after having like a really nice game, even though it didn't totally show up in the numbers last week. He had 10 carries, 31 yards, two touchdowns. But he had a big play at the goal line where he ran over Jalen Johnson, and even after the game, Lloyd said, I got my confidence back. LeFleur kind of after the game said, he's running with more authority. Like we needed that. Tucker Kraft was saying, I've been telling him just run behind your pads, everything will be okay. So I'm buying into some of that at least a little bit. I'm not going too nuts, I have him running back 23, just a low end RB2. But I'm starting him over Omari and Hampton, I'm starting over RGA Harvey and Dobbins in a tough matchup against the Seahawks. He's one of those guys who you don't feel great about it, but in a week where there's some buys and just some guys in tough matchups, this is a spot where I think you can lean on Lloyd if you need to.
