We've got a great week of waivers heading into week five. There are two guys available that have logged multiple wide receiver one and RB one finishes in their NFL career, and you can go out and get them right now.

Joey, let's go ahead and dive in as we always do. We are going to start with the running backs and wide receivers. You and I were in agreement on who the top pick up should be this week, and that is Will Shipley. Saquon Barkley dealing with a hamstring injury, expected to miss a few weeks. Pink Bigsby landing on IR with an abdominal injury, they're saying six weeks or more. How much faith would you have putting Will Shipley in your week five lineups?

Joey Wright (0:43)

I mean, I don't know how much faith I would have in him.

He did see the field quite a bit last week, 10 carries, 32 yards, four receptions, and 35 yards for the season. But he's really only popped in to give Saquon breathers. I don't know. Jeff kind of brought it up yesterday. I don't know how much trust the Eagles have in him at this point, but he's kind of the only guy there. They've got matchups against Carolina and Dallas that await him kind of on the other side of their buy. So that's pretty great. But outside of that, I don't know if I trust him more for the job than a week. And it sounds like Saquon could be back soon. The injury from Rapaport was considered not long term and week to week.

Dave Kluge (1:22)

And week to week, that tells me that he's probably missing at least one game, maybe more. So, I mean, we're looking at short term utility here. But I think what gets me more excited too is that Dallas Goddard is still on the men. Devontae Smith is still on the men. And Will Shipley, his best trait come as a pass catcher. So, if they don't have anybody else out there, like we see Dontavian Wicks and we see Mackay Lemon isn't really putting it together. Eli Stowers has been a nothing burger through the first part of his rookie season. I can see Shipley like just getting there, especially in PPR leagues, getting like six to eight catches in a game, where they're just scheming up opportunities to get the ball in his hand because nobody else is really out there. I think he's a good running back and he's not a guy that I'd expect to run away with the backfield. But like they're talking about bringing in Jayden Blue or Damian Pierce from the practice squad. Like there's just nobody else there. And we have seen that like you don't need to be a good running back. You don't need to be on a good offense. If the opportunity is there, you can pay off in fantasy football. So, Will Shipley, let's say you need a running back for week five. And this isn't the best match up going up against the Jaguars. But if you're in a fab league and you needed a running back, how much would you be willing to spend on Shipley?

Joey Wright (2:25)

If I need the spot, 20% of my fab. That's a little high, but I think that'll get the job done.

With Shipley, you know, at Clemson, he was that dual threat. So maybe he just needed the workload to unlock them. We've talked about these running backs, like K-Tron Allen only getting a couple of carries. Like, well, he needs more work to really show out. Maybe that's what Will Shipley needs. Give him a showcase spot, which he's going to probably get this week against the Jags, which is a tough matchup. And that could be exactly what Shipley needs to break out, especially with that pass catching ability.

Dave Kluge (2:53)

Yeah, and he's not a fantastic athlete by any means, but like just slightly above average at everything, he can kind of do it all. So definitely a fun player to pick up. Might not be a 30 point week if you put him in your flex spot, but I think there's enough volume there that you can get, you know, 10 to 15 points in PPR, which as we are getting closer to bye weeks, as more injuries are starting to pile up, there is a lot of value there, we've got a lot more players that we're going to discuss. As always, we always start with the running backs and wide receivers. We'll talk through all those players who we prefer, how much fab to spend on them, and then we'll get down to the quarterback and tight end streamers in the second half of the show. Before we do all that though, give us that thumbs up on YouTube. If you're listening on Apple Podcasts, please leave us a review.
