We're preparing for week five, and there are players that you should be starting, players you should be sitting, and then some streamers that you might be able to pick up off your waiver wire. And today, I'm joined with Sigmund Bloom to talk about all of those players. Sig, let's get right into it, talking about a guy that you are deeming a start this week.
Sigmund Bloom (0:26)
Yeah, Keon Coleman, and I really wanted to say Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir. I'm cheating.
Dave Kluge (0:34)
Why not? Go for it.
Sigmund Bloom (0:35)
I'm going to cheat. You said two players. So I had-

We make up our rules as we go along.
Sigmund Bloom (0:40)
Thank you.
Dave Kluge (0:40)
We've got three now for you.
Sigmund Bloom (0:42)
Thank you. I get an extra one. I get to break the rules.
Because you have at this point without DJ Moore, I don't think there's an official word yet, but he aggravated a shoulder injury. We're looking at a multi-week injury here.
And you have two sides of Josh Allen. You have Keon Coleman. And again, we talked about this before we went live here. We were started rolling.
We, and I'm including myself in this, in the fantasy football community have trouble adjusting to, we wrote off this player as he's not good, but then he actually starts playing good football.
And guess what? Keon Coleman, it looks like he's good at football.
And this year, Josh Allen trusts him. Really, he bailed out the Bills last week. They were flailing against the Patriots defense. And there was one play that Keon Coleman basically tipped to himself to set up a field goal. And then he made two catches, I think maybe right in a row, including one for a touchdown gobbled up like 50 or 60 yards. And Josh Allen likes to play pitch and catch. The idea was playing pitch and catch with DJ Moore. Well, he's out, pitch and catch with Keon Coleman. But also, Josh Allen has been very careless with the ball the last two weeks. They could have lost to the Chargers, which is laughable, although Seattle almost let the Chargers back in. These teams get too casual, right? Josh Allen is just way too casual with the ball right now. And what Joe Brady needs to do, he needs to actually be the adult in the room and say, you have to play within yourself. And like they said, I mean, they said, more Dalton can cade. How did we not throw the ball more Dalton cade? They're telling us insider trading. But also Khalil Shakir and Dave Khalil Shakir has been the guy for Josh Allen as they've gone through ups and downs in their wide receiver room, that he can trust on like third and five. You know, he's either going to uncover or he's going to find a way to break a tackle. And he also, a la Amandun Rossian Brown earlier in his career, we thought of Amandun Rossian Brown as more of a short intermediate guy. And then he was able to show that he has got chops as a downfield receiver too. There was a lot of chatter that Khalil Shakir was going to get that kind of treatment this year. Now with DJ Moore out, he could play that role. But also I would hope that especially against the Rams, the smaller margin of air against the Rams, then there was against the charges of the Patriots because of Matthew Stafford and Sean McVay, that you're going to take more high percentage, take what the defense gives you. Josh Allen, that is your task this week. That means throwing a lot to Khalil Shakir.
Dave Kluge (3:11)
And if he doesn't take what the defense gives him and plays that same reckless, careless style of football we've seen through the first few weeks, they could be in a trailing game script where they're just forced to throw the ball, which means even more goodness going to Keon Coleman and Shakir. I don't think we need to talk about Shakir a lot because he has been steady for the last like half decade. Like he's been the one kind of steady piece of this offense. But you talk about Keon Coleman and I was a huge doubter of Keon Coleman coming into the league. I felt vindicated in my stance after his rookie season, even more vindicated after year two. But I went back and I rewatched all of his routes from this season with a fresh mind. He looks like a completely different player, Sig. Like this guy, he's not a one trick pony. He's not just catching contested balls like they thought he'd be. He's not just a downfield thrower. He's making plays after the catch. He's doing everything like he is a well-rounded every down receiver now.
