It's the Harris Football Podcast with your host Christopher Harris.
Christopher Harris (0:13)
Welcome! Hey everybody, welcome in. My name is Chris, and if this show were an article of clothing, it would be a very comfortable turtleneck sweater.
Hello there, you Yacht Possums. How are you today? Thank you so much for listening. Got to talk with a bunch of you yesterday, Wednesday, on the Yacht Club show. That was a fun conversation with Paywall Andy about how aggressive we're being, starting some of the backups and waiver guys we added in advance of week five. And also Andy gave us five players. He would consider trading away in a fantasy trade right now. He did a great job with that list. Remember, a lot of good stuff on that show. It's five bucks a month to join the Yacht Club or I think like 50 bucks for the year. Not only do you get the extra Wednesday podcast every week, but you also get a live stream with me every Sunday morning where you can ask me lineup questions and come out, hang out with me and other like minded possums for an hour. Some are calling that a pretty good deal. You can find out more at harrisfootball.com.
But anyway, now the larger group gathers back here on a Thursday. Very lucky to be talking with you. Very happy. We've got a fine and fun show coming your way. No matter where you are, no matter what you're doing, if you're at the gym, I see you. Keep going.
If you're driving the kids around, I say hello to children. Hello, children. And obviously, the biggest news in football is all the time taken out of our lives, worrying whether players would be fined for miming drinking a beer. In a moment of incredible harmony, the NFL and the NFLPA announced that chugging celebrations now are permitted. So our long national nightmare is over. We also had Joe Mixon wanting to sign with the Seahawks and the Seahawks getting one look at his presumably deformed ankle and jumping backwards like that Chief Slineman getting a look at poor Tyquan Thornton's ankle and saying, eww, no, no thanks. And Mixon will not be signing with Seattle. The timing of Tyreek Hill's agent making a glorious statement about how ready Tyreek Hill is to sign somewhere now seems more explicable given the fact that now we know Hill's civil trial for his behavior with his wife has begun and her allegations immediately swept over the internet. Believe women, which in theory would make Tyreek Hill unbelievably toxic to any organization that wanted to hire him to do anything from playing football to like mowing your lawn. But it's 2026 in the US of A and toxic is viewed in certain quarters of this great country as a good thing. So whether this disqualifies Hill from joining a team like the Chiefs is a question that will remain up in the air.
Lane Johnson, the right tacker for the Eagles, abruptly announced that he is retiring. He was trying to make it through one last year, realized he couldn't do it. It's very tough for the Eagles because obviously if he had known this and he'd retired before the season started, they would have made other plans. They also traded away one of their presumptive starting interior linemen, Cam Jurgens, to the Ravens. But I don't know, Jurgens had played pretty poorly, so I don't think that's like some sort of major downgrade. And then in retiring, Lane Johnson said a few things about prioritizing mental health, which once again allowed the worst chuds in society to do the thing they always do. And then, hooray, we got a day's worth of shouting about that. Can I once again submit that putting ESPN poison into your veins is actually bad for you, and you will be a happier sports fan if you simply don't watch this current incarnation of ESPN at all.
Anyway, all of that made for maybe not the happiest day to be an NFL fan, but I would prefer us to be happier, so instead let's do this.

Time for your snarky email.
Christopher Harris (4:57)
As always, of course I would love to hear from you. Please email me whenever you like. Heyharris at harrisfootball.com. A quick note off the top to say Mike Dennis in Kansas, thank you so much for the kind words about Pound Foolish. Anybody who wants to write in nice things about the book, if you've read it, that would be lovely.
And again, if you want to post about it on social media, we can keep that going. That helps as well. I am still stretching pretty far back, like a month for some of these emails. I'm very sorry how slow I am to get to them, but they are great and funny, and I love getting them. Nathan K from Parts Unknown. Hey Harris, hope as well. Hope all as well. I am in the middle of a 14-team Superflex draft, so you can imagine when this email came in. Sorry, Nathan. I live in a pretty large city. It's the second year of this league, and it's a group of dads. The group includes the mayor of our city. He and I finished one and two in the league for its first year. I just noticed his computer is on, and harrisfootball.com is the web page that's up. I was surprised, but not really because I respect his intelligence, and we bantered about how Harris Football is a good source. I, however, of course, am using Almanac-only Superflex ranks, so the mayor is screwed. Pat Hema from Flyover Country. Hey Harris, who do you think you are? You did not invent the phrase, plant a flag. I'm very sorry you had to find out this way. This was documented as far back as 1530 in the writings of John Palsgrave. You heard that right, 1530 Now unless you are claiming to be a time traveler, having traveled through some sort of, I don't know, warp zone, you, sir, are no John Palsgrave. By the way, his writings are still around 500 years later. Good luck with that.
