Last week, we told you to save your waiver priority for a future week, and that future week is here. We have some very big names on this week's waiver wire, guys, that you should be picking up heading into week three that can help reshape your fantasy football lineup. Today, I'm joined with Joey Wright, and we are going to go through 31 players. We're going to start with the wide receivers and running backs, and then we're going to talk about some quarterbacks and tight ends that you could be streaming over the next few weeks. Joey, let's start off. You know, we got some some feedback last week that maybe didn't take the cream off the top. So let's go ahead and do that. These are the guys that should be rostered in every single league. Like I'm talking 10 teams, five bench bots. These players should be bench or should be rostered, but they're still available in some leagues. We got Kyler Murray, Denzel Boston, Dalton Schultz, Emmett Johnson and Jonah Coleman.
What do you think the reason is that some of these players still aren't being rostered?
Joey Wright (0:59)
I mean, I think in the case of Kyler Murray, some people may have dropped him last week.
Dave Kluge (1:03)
Yeah.
Joey Wright (1:04)
So you might be looking at that. But you know, shallow leagues, some of these guys are out there available. If people weren't watching the waiver wire, you know, maybe some of these guys got dropped for some last minute replacements that people needed where they needed a more trustworthy options. But you know, the guys you just rattled off, I think there's some real appeal to having all of them, especially going into next week.
Dave Kluge (1:21)
Yeah, so I think Kyler Murray, like we're looking at him, is kind of a back end QB one, high end QB two. I will say, I think the one thing that changed a little bit is that his leash might have been shortened ever so slightly with Carson Wentz getting the team off to a 2-0 start, where it just seemed like it was Kyler Murray's team for better or worse. Now, if Kyler comes out and they lose the next three games, you know, there might be some boo-birds chanting Carson Wentz name out there in Minnesota. But when he's on the field, we're expecting good production from him. Denzel Boston, we've seen back to back games touchdown operating as the wide receiver one in Cleveland. We know Cleveland isn't the best offense, but he is getting the targets. He's running the routes. He's looking good. Dalton Schultz looking fantastic through the first couple of weeks. We saw him just operating as the basically the wide receiver one in Houston last week without Nico Collins. But I think the most exciting guys to talk about in this tier, Joey, are Emmett Johnson and Jonah Coleman. Which one would you prefer between those two rookie running backs? Because both looked phenomenal in week two.
Joey Wright (2:17)
Yeah, so I want to say if you're looking for a one week fill in, I would probably go with Jonah Coleman if you need someone for one week.
Dave Kluge (2:25)
Especially if RJ Harvey is still out again in week three.
Joey Wright (2:29)
And I mean, they say JK. Dobbins looks good, so it looks like he might be back from that hamstring. I don't know if it's called a strain, pull, knock, whatever it is.
Dave Kluge (2:38)
I think Jeff was kind of right in insinuating that maybe they just said, hey, JK., why don't you rest up and let's see what we got in this rookie?
Joey Wright (2:45)
Yeah, and he looked really good, I'll have to say. So if you need a one week start, I would definitely go with Joel McCullman. But I'll eat a little crow. I haven't done it, I don't think on every show. I don't think I've done it here. I mean, Kenneth Walker looks great.
Although I do not think he can keep up this workload. I don't think that the Chiefs can allow him to do that. And Emma Johnson has looked really good in efficiency. I kind of pointed out this angry running. I didn't mention efficiency running that he's had. 14 total touches for 103 yards, no touchdowns or anything. But when he's had the ball in his hands, he's getting this chunk yardage that we want to see.
Either way, I would hate to see Kenneth Walker go down. If he were to go down, Emma Johnson would have top 10 running back upside. I don't think that there's a doubt the way that this Chiefs offense is running. But in the meantime, I think he could have some standalone value maybe as a flex. If they do pull that workload back from Kenneth Walker, or if they get into better game scripts. Kansas City has been competing every week that we've seen in the last two weeks. But if they move towards like, okay, we're up by a couple of touchdowns. Let's give Emma Johnson a little bit more work. We might see him get some actual flex appeal. Emma Johnson for the long term is who I'd rather add over Coleman.
