Another week of football means more information to digest, and today I am joined by Jeff Bell and Joey Wright. We are going to look back at every week three game. Let's start with the game we just saw last night, Sunday Night Football. We saw the Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos. The Broncos won that game 32-26.
Jeff, let me throw this question to you first. This is an earnest question. Bohnix, is he really good, really bad, or do we just kind of have no idea at this point?
Jeff Bell (0:39)
He is not really good.
I will say that for sure. He's not really good. I'm comfortably saying there, and I'm not convinced he's really bad either. I don't think this is like replacement level. This is five alarm red fire here. Week one was one of the most disjointed offensive performances that we have seen this year. Week two and week three, the first half was horrible. The second half, they obviously came back in a way that reminds you of, remember last year when they were up or down multiple touchdowns against the Giants in that game and came back and won that game. It's one of those that he's bad enough. It's almost like the Russ Wilson of it a little bit. Maybe it's bad enough and it keeps you in the game, leans on the defense through the first half of the game, first couple of quarters and then turns it on when needed, able to deliver when needed. And so, it's kind of where we're sitting right now with Nix.
Dave Kluge (1:30)
And this makes me wonder, is this more of a Sean Payton thing? Because it does seem like the Broncos are such a second half team that we see Bo Nix just kind of coming out almost every single week, like not looking great in the first quarter, turning on in the second quarter or in the second half. That just makes me think that Sean Payton is doing a great job at halftime, making the necessary adjustments. So with you there, Joey, any thoughts on this Broncos team? We can talk about Bo Nix, but we could also look at, you know, another dud game from Jalen Waddle. We can look at how touches were split up between JK. Dobbins and RJ. Harvey. I think there's a lot to take away from this game. What was your major takeaway from the Broncos yesterday?
Joey Wright (2:03)
My major takeaway is like if the touchdowns are there for Bo Nix when the matchups are right, I mean, you can start him, but the touchdowns have to be there because the R's isn't there. I think one shining spot that the Broncos have had through the first couple of weeks has been like this quiet emergence of Pat Bryant. And I know he stood me up for an interview last year, but I'm willing to put that behind me because I think there might be something cooking there with, you know, we're not seeing Waddle get the catches that we were hoping you would get. Cortland Sutton seems like almost like an afterthought a lot of the weeks, the last couple of weeks. But Pat Bryant's put out some good production. But also the confusing thing with Sean Payton, like let's just throw it to this guy this week. I think I said earlier in the day, like this is the week where everybody that we didn't know was on the team is going to be catching touchdowns because that's what it felt like all day.
Like I said, if the touchdowns are there, I'm good to start Bonyx, but if they're not, like I just, I think it's match up dependent at this point.
Dave Kluge (2:55)
Yeah, and I think, you know, Pat Bryant, we heard a lot of good positivity about him throughout camp this year, and that is now materializing. So if it was just going to be Sutton and Waddle, you know, it'd be pretty easy to just look at the passing volume and say both of these guys are going to give us our wide receiver two, wide receiver three value. But if you have Pat Bryant in there getting his share, and then RJ Harvey getting involved in the passing game, and then the random targets going to the tight ends as well, it does make this a little bit more frustrating. So yeah, I mean, we know that targets are going to get spread thin in a Sean Payton offense. But I want to talk a little bit about the Rams here. And Joey, I'll throw this question to you first.
You know, we thought it was looking like a 50-50 split with Kyron Williams and Blake Coram. Last week, we saw the scales tip, or last night, we saw the scales tip heavily in favor of Kyron Williams. So how do fantasy managers know if and when they should draft, or I'm sorry, start Blake Coram? Is he just kind of a guy that you're sitting on waiting for a Kyron Williams injury to happen, or does he still have some weekly flex appeal?
