This episode is brought to you by Nationwide. Everyone knows that to win in fantasy, you need players that can be so much more. The QB that can throw for 400 yards and rush for a touchdown, the defense that can snag a pick six, or the running back who can also bring in 15 receptions. It's like how Nationwide is so much more than a great insurance company. They're one of America's largest financial services companies too. Now that gets the start. For your insurance and financial needs, Nationwide is on your side.

On today's episode of The Ringer Fantasy Football Show, we're going to go over all the games for week three. I don't have other things to say. That's mostly the episode, right, Craig?

Craig Horlbeck (1:15)

That's right. You got that right, Danny.

I agree.

Danny Heifetz (1:19)

We usually try to list all the things, but that's really concise. That will be most of the show.

Craig Horlbeck (1:24)

One stat for every game. Coming up.

Welcome to The Ringer Fantasy Football Show. My name is Danny Heifetz and I am joined by Danny Kelly and Craig Horlbeck. And we are previewing week three of the NFL season. A lot of backup quarterbacks. Wow. Already got Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston, and then Tyson Bajan and or Case Keenum three weeks into the season. A little bit of a downer. Come on, DK.

Danny Kelly (2:38)

Brutal. Brutal. I mean, when was last time Case Keenum played?

Danny Heifetz (2:43)

Like three years ago. Case Keenum has played four games since COVID.

Craig Horlbeck (2:48)

He's got in that Chase Daniel camp where he's just like a career backup. And he's like the elder statesman of backups, where he's just kind of always in the league.

Danny Kelly (2:55)

He's always he had one really good season.

Danny Heifetz (2:57)

I think he's a coach like you're a quarterback like that. You're the third guy in your event. You're being paid to just basically be like a coach. He's like a mole. And you're hanging out with the quarterback all the time. And it's like a cool older brother to give you advice when you won't listen to mom or dad. Like, that's really what his role is in the NFL.

Danny Kelly (3:12)

Dude, is one good season. He was a starter for the Vikings in 2017

He had 22 touchdowns, seven picks 2017 That just feels like a lifetime ago. I don't even know what we were doing back then.

Danny Heifetz (3:25)

So we'll see what happened. Caleb Williams. Yeah, I mean, that's Monday Night Football. Should we just we're just doing that now? Or are we just starting with that? I mean, that was the I feel like it did end up being the news of the week was of all the quarterbacks Jackson Dart walking off the field ended up being out for the season. And then Caleb Williams carted off crying into the towel is like, yeah, maybe like two weeks, three weeks. We'll see.

Craig Horlbeck (3:44)

So you want to do the last game of the week first?

Danny Heifetz (3:46)

I think we did by accident. That's kind of like the entire one. But we can maybe we'll circle back at the end. But I guess we should start with the earlier games in the beginning.

Craig Horlbeck (3:54)

But the morning slate, we're doing one stat for every game.

I'll start Bengals Steelers game of the year.

The Bengals are favored by three and a half points to win this game. It's in Pittsburgh. My one stat. The Cincinnati Bengals have allowed a league low 78 rushing yards to running backs. Wow. This year, they are top five in rushing yards allowed per game, and they are top five in rushing defense success rate. The Bengals defense is kind of a thing now, and it's not something you really ever associate with the Bengals. They used to be Cowboys North, or whatever you wanted to call it, or the Cowboys or Bengals South. But the Bengals are a little bit more balanced now, and this game, look, I think the Bengals always play well against the Steelers. I went back and I looked up how Burrow does against the Steelers versus every other team in the NFL. Burrow scores four more points a game against the Steelers versus all the other teams, which is like nothing.
