What's the Season Kicks Off? ADP Stops Mattering. That guy that you drafted in round 12 might be more valuable heading into this week than the guy that you drafted in round 3 And today, Dan Hindery and I are going to talk about some starts, some sits, and then a couple of QB and tight end streamers that you can be looking at if you aren't feeling good about the guy that you drafted. And Dan, let's talk about some of the guys that you've been looking for. And Dan, let's go ahead and start off with your start of the week, Matthew Golden, a guy that I completely agree with and that Bob Harris and I just talked about on yesterday's episode as one of the biggest risers in fantasy football.

Yeah, this is that time of year where you start looking back at some of those drafts you did and start thinking like, man, I wish I would have taken that guy instead. And this is where-
Dave Kluge (0:49)
You were also a Jayden Reid drafter?
Dan Hindery (0:51)
A little bit, yes. A little bit of Reid, a little bit of Golden. But this is one where I think all of those kind of preseason, you have these like hypotheses and you start making some assumptions. You're like, you know, I think it's going to play out this way. And in week one, we got a lot of feedback that the positive, like the bullish case for Matthew Golden was actually correct. So he saw 12 targets, had six catches for 97 yards, led the team in target share of 29 percent. And then like all the underlying usage metrics were great. He had led the team with 40 routes run. He played 82 percent of the snaps. So he was on the field for those two wide receiver sets over Jayden Reed.
And then we got some indication this was going to happen, but with Romeo Dobbs and Don Tavian Wicks out of town, Lafleur is saying, we're not going to rotate these wide receivers like we did last year.
The targets are going to be concentrated. And we saw that. And then also, just in terms of how the Packers are going to play, with Josh Jacobs out, it's just not going to be the same offense. Like, they're going to lean more heavily into the pass. It's going to be more pass heavy and put more on Jordan Love. So not only are the targets concentrated, I think we have to project this as a more pass heavy team in general.
And it looks like a really nice spot, too. The Packers are four and a half point favorites, 24.5 implied team total against the Jets. Jets are going to be without Minka Fitzpatrick, he's out for a couple of weeks. So everything lines up really well for Matthew Golden. So he's one of those guys who I feel really good putting in there as my wide receiver three and even like wide receiver two if you need him. And I think he's going to be ahead of some guys who are drafted ahead of him. So, you know, Jayden Reed was generally going ahead of him. I think I'm going Golden over Reed if I have them both. Brian Thomas Jr. is another guy at wide receiver who I think Golden clearly ahead of him. Just a better role. Marvin Harrison Jr. And then Wondale Robinson is another guy who I, you know, he might get some targets, but I just want guys and good passing offenses. And then another one that was actually a little tougher for me, but I'm taking him over Romo Dunze just because I'm not 100% sure how healthy Dunze is. And I feel like Green Bay now, the targets are more concentrated. You're not worrying about the Caliph Raymond's. There's no Green Bay version of Caliph Raymond this year. So you can kind of bank on him being on the field almost all the time and a pass heavy offense. And all of the reports, too, about how good he looked in camp. That stuff also played out. He caught a long ball. So I feel really good about starting Matthew Golden this week.

And I think this was one of those that we did have a lot of questions going into the preseason. Like I know I kind of copped out and I just had Jayden Reed and Matthew Golden very tight in my rankings. And I said, I kind of had to wait to see the season kick off because like last year, we heard a lot of positivity about Matthew Golden in the preseason and didn't realize in too much regular season production. So this year we had a lot of very good, strong drum beats coming out of Green Bay about Matthew Golden. I just didn't want to buy into it because I kind of fell for that trap again last year. But like you said, the usage, I mean, he led the team in routes and he was the guy on the field in two wide receiver sets. I saw Jayden Reed playing out wide a little bit when he came back from that injury last year, and I was hoping that that would translate to a full time role this year, but he is still relegated to that slot role. So we kind of looked at these guys very tightly in ADP as we were heading into the season, but I think coming out of week one now, you can put Matthew Golden well ahead of Jayden Reed going forward. So I like that call out.
