Welcome in, it is Monday morning, and you know what that means. I'm here with Jeff Bell and Joey Wright. We're going to recap every single game from a crazy, crazy Sunday here. And let's start off with the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears. The Minnesota Vikings pull out the win here, winning 9-3 in a sloppy, rainy game. But I think the biggest question that a lot of fantasy managers have right now about this one is what to do with Colston Loveland. Jeff, I will throw this to you first.
One catch, three yards through his first two games. What are we supposed to do here? Is it time to just completely panic about Colston Loveland?
Jeff Bell (0:46)
I mean, if you're going to panic, where are you going to pivot to? We saw Dallas Goddard had a big week one, got injured in week two. I mean, if you have Dalton Kincaid, sure, you can play Dalton Kincaid in week three. Kyle Pitts doesn't look good. Tucker Craft looks like maybe there was a little bit more of an injury ramp up than what we thought coming into that, the way that he was talking towards the beginning of the season. So where do you feel good at tight end? I mean, sure, if you have Colston Loveland and Trey McBride, you better not be sitting Trey McBride for Colston Loveland. But at some level, again, outside of Kincaid or, I mean, Travis Kelso looked good last night. Other than those types of options, Isaiah Lakely, see what he does tonight here on Monday. Yeah, well, Dalton Schultz, the spam button with Nikko Collins out, sure. Otherwise, you still built your team around Colston Loveland. You're hopeful that he starts to deliver as Colston Loveland. And that was a weather game yesterday and we should acknowledge that. Yeah.
Dave Kluge (1:41)
And it was just a tough game. Like he was also just getting brutalized in the blocking game. Like, you know, he was asked to block a lot, like over half of his passing down snaps. He was blocking rather than running routes. And you saw he was just getting brutalized that entire game. So I think it was just a tough outing. Like, I don't want to take too much away from a game with that sort of weather. But on this same game, I think we also need to talk about the Caleb Williams injury, which there has been much speculation about. We're hearing a hamstring after the initial fear was kind of an Achilles. We're hearing it could be as small as a grade one hamstring, which would put him on track to play Monday night. So Joey, what are your kind of thoughts about Caleb Williams here? I don't know if you have a strong take here or if you want to continue talking about Colston Loveland and what fantasy managers can do. I think there's a lot to talk about right now regarding the Bears.
Joey Wright (2:21)
Yeah, I mean, Caleb Williams, last time we were talking about him is like, is he the second or third best quarterback in the league right now? So that's a big loss to fantasy managers that drafted him at this point. And listen, I hope it's a grade one strain. And I think if he's out this week, he can look at different streaming options. We'll talk about some of them going forth. I hope it's just a one or two week injury with him because that would really change the whole way we're looking at this offense. But with Loveland, I think Jeff hit the nail on the head with saying, what else are you doing at this point? And I think actually we should talk to the managers that maybe are set at tight end. Is this a time to go buy Coles and Loveland? If you've got Dalton Kincaid or Tucker Craft or Dalton Shelton, you're fine playing them. See if you can get Loveland on the cheap. Let him sit on your bench. You've got options. You can play for these next few weeks. And then if Loveland comes back, which I think we all expect him to eventually come back the way that we saw him last year, you've got a top three tight end in the league.
Dave Kluge (3:12)
Yeah, this is just the Bears team right now. We see Caliph Raymond very much so operating as the team's wide receiver one. This is not the expectation that we had for the Bears offense going forward. But Jeff, what are your thoughts?
Jeff Bell (3:24)
They played Sam Rausch and Cole Comet a little bit more this week than last week, potentially working maybe to free up some of the things you're talking about. Him being brutalized, playing those other tight ends a little bit more to help there.
