Hello, everybody.
Patrick Daugherty (0:16)
Welcome to the Rotoworld Football Show's Week 2 Sunday Recap. I am Patrick Daugherty, joined off the jump as always by Mr. Denny Carter. Crazy day, a wet and windy day in some places, Denny.
Very much including in your first game for the Browns. Man, the Bucks, just horrific stuff. Browns 23, Bucks 19, Survivor Leagues and absolute shambles.
So real good slash real bad stuff there. Then you have the Broncos beating the Jaguars 20 to 13 Denny, Justin Herbert is leading early in the Felfort Again rankings. Maybe the Jaguars nipping at his heels though. And then talk about Wet and Windy from Chicago, Illinois on Sunday. The Vikings nine points, three field goals. That was enough to win the game. Oh, right. The Bears scored three points. Excuse me, Caleb Williams missed the final seven minutes of the game. That didn't help. That would have really not helped if he had blown out his knee or torn his Achilles tendon. Thankfully, it appears it's quote, just a hamstring injury. Could still be a multi-week issue, Denny Carter. But it appears we've avoided the worst with Caleb Williams. We have not avoided the worst with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Wow. I know you want to start with the Browns. Let's start with the Bucs because this is who we cared about in Fantasy Football. Baker Mayfield already looking like the worst extension in the history of the sport now. I mean, we can't say that yet, but horrible second half last year. Two really, really poor games to begin this season.
What was wrong with Baker? What was wrong with this Bucs offense?
Denny Carter (1:49)
I mean, the offensive line is a disaster for Tampa, and Baker Mayfield took three sacks today. He was pressured basically on every drop back once the game script got negative and the Browns knew what they were doing.
He's continually trying the hero ball stuff. It's not working. I don't know.
Patrick Daugherty (2:11)
He's so addicted to the hero ball stuff, kind of like Carson Wentz of your, what's that, Carson?
Denny Carter (2:17)
Yeah.
Patrick Daugherty (2:18)
You know, the dual threat. Baker, Baker, like you're tough. You can run occasionally. That's not the same as you can't do every play.
Denny Carter (2:25)
No, this is the thing.
Yeah. I mean, I'm going to really look strongly into this game for regression files purposes for this week. But a lot of air yards, a lot of air yards, very few, precious few real yards, including, you know, Ameca Ibuka, who was an air yards eater in week one. Again, lots of downfield stuff. He caught an eight yard touchdown, the kind of, I guess, saved his day, if you want to say. I mean, it prevented like a two point outing, basically.
Patrick Daugherty (2:56)
Prevented calamity, utter calamity.
Denny Carter (2:58)
Yeah.
Tez Johnson was overthrown multiple times. Ted Hurst was overthrown twice downfield on what should have been honestly walk-in touchdowns for Ted Hurst. So it may feel truly, truly awful. And, you know, no one got there. I mean, you can't, you just can't, Chris Godwin, four catches, 40 years. It doesn't, it doesn't matter when Mayfield's playing this poorly.
Patrick Daugherty (3:22)
No, and it's just not going to get any easier for Baker Mayfield in week three, where Brian Flores is Vikings defense. The first two weeks of the season, they're just scrambling the entire setup for other teams with almost literal constant blitzing.
Baker Mayfield is the kind of guy who can make you pay for an ill-timed blitz, but he's not playing well. They're not in sync. There's yet another new offensive coordinator. Does not look like a good week three bounce back spot for Baker Mayfield and company. Is the only good news? The Bucky Irving is rebounding on last year's. Speaking of calamities, Denny.
Denny Carter (3:56)
Sure.
Patrick Daugherty (3:56)
Yeah.
Denny Carter (3:57)
He out touched my guy Kenny Gainwell 19 to 5
There were so many bad, stupid screen passes for the Bucks. This is the only thing they wanted to do was play action screen. The Browns were like, yeah, we know that's coming. We'll stop trying this. And so the screen game got nothing going, but Bucky Irving is dominating that backfield. And I should mention, Sean Tucker was active today, didn't see a touch, so it doesn't matter.
Patrick Daugherty (4:31)
What was the gain well, Syop? Like what was gained by any of this?
Denny Carter (4:36)
I don't know. I fell for it. I mean, I did too.
Patrick Daugherty (4:39)
How could you not fall for 14 million dollars?
Denny Carter (4:43)
