Hello, and welcome to the Ganey School of Business MBA617 Leadership in Business course announcements podcast hosted by Dr. Valerie Arguello.

Hello, emerging MBA617 leaders. Today begins our seven week journey together. Are you ready? I'm so excited to have you in this course, Business and Leadership. Now, I understand that as a graduate student, your plate is probably pretty full. So I have decided to use a podcast recording method so that you can listen to my weekly announcements while you're driving, walking, running, cleaning, wherever you're on the go. I also understand that earning a higher education degree is not easy. Even more difficult is pursuing education later in life when the responsibilities of work and family require a vast amount of time. Let's be honest, we are not the 22-year-olds who live carefree lives. Instead, each of you brings to your learning experience an individual perspective shaped by the events and choices of your past years. As we move into week one, we will begin to dig deep into the field of leadership theory and business ethics. You will research and explore the differences between the traits, skills, and behavior approaches to leadership. Use the dialogue forum to leverage your own unique perspective to offer new insights and observations to your peers in the discussion board. You will do this by concisely describing the difference between the traits, skills, and behavior approaches to leadership. In addition, you will be introduced to self-leadership strategies for accomplishing academic and professional goals as well as learning how to integrate an ethical perspective. You will also analyze the power of self-motivation and the influence on personal attitudes and behavior. When you read your textbooks this week, you will need to constantly shift from action to reflection. The leadership assessments you take in this course will not take you from bad to good. Rather, they will take you from good to better. If you try to make small leadership changes and steps every day, I promise you that you will and can reach your full leadership potential. My goal as your instructor is to help you complete the seven-week course successfully. I want you to complete this course with having an exceptional amount of knowledge, understanding, and a deep appreciation for business and leadership that you're proud of. And as a leader, your knowledge will help people too. In conclusion, I would like to zoom in just a little bit. I would like to ask a commitment from you, and that's because I know you're ready to do this. Starting an MBA program can feel overwhelming at first, but I'm here to walk you through each step and celebrate the wins along the way. Now, this is your call to action. I would like for you to leave a comment in the blackboard prayer request to introduce yourself and announce your commitment that you will, no matter what circumstances you may have to face, that you will commit to finishing this course. Also make the commitment to pray and ask God to give you favor to produce excellent work throughout your entire MBA journey moving forward. For an example, introduce yourself and make a comment such as, hi, I'm Valerie Arguell. I'm committed to doing this course, and I will graduate with my MBA. You may also include in your comment, I am also committed to praying and asking God each day to give me favor to produce excellent work throughout my MBA journey moving forward. I look forward to seeing your posted comments in Blackboard. Use this commitment in Blackboard also as an opportunity to lift each other up in your daily prayers. If you have any questions about this course, please contact me right away. I am here to help you to succeed in every aspect of this learning experience.

May the Lord greatly bless you today and cause you to shine, stand out, and be fruitful in everything. Now, let's do this.
