Welcome to We Need to Talk About Tech, where we talk about the past, present, and future of technology.

On today's episode, we will be talking about the OnePlus Nord and its event, the Xbox Series X event, in our opinion of it, the Pixel 4a, and a possible August 3rd release. Let's start off with the OnePlus Nord event.
So obviously, there's a lot of, I guess, specs, or not a lot. The specs were leaked beforehand. Pretty much the phone turned out to be exactly what everyone thought it was going to be. And especially, I mean, he pretty much unveiled the phone with MKBHD beforehand anyway. So we knew what the phone was going to look like. We knew what the specs were going to be. I guess the only thing we really didn't know was the price.
And, yeah, like the price was what, 399? 399 euros, right?

**Emanuel-C** (1:10)
399 euros, 379 pounds, and I don't remember how many rupees, but, yeah, around that same price.

**SPEAKER_2** (1:18)
So pretty much the same price as the iPhone SE is what it's launching as. But it obviously has different specs, right? Bigger display, I'd say better display processor. Definitely not as good as the SE RAM, more RAM. But it's kind of does more RAM necessarily mean it's like a smoother experience?
The screen, though, it is 90 Hertz compared to Apple's 60 Hertz screen cameras. Now, they they marketed it as a flagship camera, right? It's the same camera as their flagships.
But it's not really that being said, like OnePlus's cameras aren't as good as iPhone cameras. So them marketed it as a flagship camera is like, yeah, you got a lot of megapixels. But the images that the cameras produce aren't necessarily as good as other flagship phones, whereas the iPhone SE or even like the Pixel 3A, you could say, OK, those are flagship cameras at a budget price.

**Emanuel-C** (2:28)
Yeah.

**SPEAKER_2** (2:29)
Whereas this is like, well, your flagship doesn't produce as good like pictures anyways.

**Emanuel-C** (2:35)
So you and I think that could potentially be an issue with OnePlus's processing, where maybe they might have to have better hardware. And because the processor on the Nord isn't the greatest, maybe it can't handle the same level of processing that the flagship OnePlus 8 Pro can.

**SPEAKER_2** (2:57)
Battery.
I think we like said this before, 41,000 milliamp hour battery with a 30 watt charger included in the box. It's a big statement for 2020, including a charger in the box.
So yeah, massive battery compared to the iPhone SE. I guess the biggest drawback for me is that it's not coming to North America. This sounds like a great spec sheet phone, apart from the fact that I can't buy it. And they have a beta tester program where you have to apply, send in some content that you've created, and hopefully you get picked to get an exclusive phone in North America. But that's 50 for the entire North America, right? Not readily available. And it's kind of interesting to me because they built up so much hype leading into this, especially with North American content creators. And especially they had Lou later from Unbox Therapy. They had him release or not. It was sort of like a I guess a certified unboxing experience where you were live, like watching it live with him as he was watching the event. Why go through so much trouble, I guess, to build up the hype in North America if you're not going to then release it in North America?

**Emanuel-C** (4:29)
And I think that's interesting, too, because it could be a couple of things. I think we spoke before like it could have just been because they know a lot of these North American YouTube channels have a huge audience in Europe, India as well. But then the also the thing could be, you know, OnePlus is in the new cycle in North America, and it could be that they might be releasing a new phone in North America soon as well, but likely not a budget one. So maybe something like the OnePlus 8T and 8T Pro, which will be, you know, just replacing the 8 and 8 Pro, and obviously be much more expensive phones. But at least right now, OnePlus is in people's minds.
And then, you know, when they announce this phone to a market like North America, maybe people get excited about, oh, OK, well, we're not getting that phone, but we're getting the better phone, which personally doesn't excite me all that much. I'm not sure about you.
Do you want to see like the OnePlus 8T Pro or OnePlus 8T?
