Welcome back to The Pod of Greed.
Paul McGee (0:04)
Welcome back indeed, guys, to the one and only podcast on the internet. So, this is a new week, and that means...
Alec Fields (0:14)
New me.
Paul McGee (0:16)
Yeah, new slew of stories. A lot of card game stories and like, some really random fun stuff. We did find some random stuff. There's some random stuff.
But there are some Yu-Gi-Oh developments.
Alec Fields (0:29)
There certainly are.
Paul McGee (0:30)
There's one big development that hasn't happened that a lot of people want.
Alec Fields (0:33)
They announced the ban list! Or at least that's my long shot for by the time this episode airs.
Paul McGee (0:39)
Yeah, like maybe they will have announced it when this goes live.
Alec Fields (0:43)
As you guys undoubtedly know, if you're a Yu-Gi-Oh player in any shape or way, there is no ban list right now, and people are losing it.
Paul McGee (0:51)
Yeah, I feel like people might start riding in the streets soon if we're not careful.
Alec Fields (0:55)
The police will be very confused. They'll be like, wait, which ride is this? Are you riding because of the other thing? The other thing? Yu-Gi-Oh.
Paul McGee (1:01)
Yeah, it's a bit of a shame. I think that people are, their patience is beginning to wear a little bit thin on that front and Konami has not given any communication as they kind of tend not to do. So we're just left to wait.
Alec Fields (1:19)
Now I know we don't usually do like ban list predictions. That's not really our bag. So I'll posit this question to you.
Paul McGee (1:27)
Okay.
Alec Fields (1:31)
What would a ban list look like that's unforgivable right now?
Paul McGee (1:38)
Oh man, I don't know.
Alec Fields (1:40)
Because people seem to want a lot. So everyone has their list of things they really want. So what would be a terrible ban list?
Paul McGee (1:47)
I think at this point, if they were to just release a ban list that doesn't ban any card, that alone would piss people off.
Like right now, I know that there's a half a dozen cards swirling around that people think should legitimately be banned. And some of them are Link Monsters, like Xenna and the Quartet Link. Then there's stuff like Call by the Grave that people want banned. There's random abused cards, like Spell Canceler type stuff. There's so many cards, I think if they were to just release a list that doesn't ban anything, I think people would be very...
Alec Fields (2:18)
It's actually funny, I've had this theory for a very, very long time.
The longer they make us wait for a ban list, the longer the list of ban lists wants to become. And so, the longer that break becomes, the less likely that ban lists will be considered satisfactory, because we've had time to mull over all the things we absolutely hate.
Paul McGee (2:40)
Yeah, there's a lot. But, before we get into the actual Yu-Gi-Oh news, make sure that you leave a like on the podcast, leave a comment with what you're currently thinking as a Yu-Gi-Oh player about this dilemma.
Alec Fields (2:54)
And if you haven't by now, subscribe. I'm pretty sure you have, but, you know.
Paul McGee (2:57)
Yeah, we'd appreciate if you did. We are trying to get the subscriber numbers up, channel memberships. If you are down and able to financially support, you certainly can. No pressure to do so.
Alec Fields (3:07)
If you're down and about.
Paul McGee (3:08)
And if not, you could also just hype the video.
Alec Fields (3:10)
That's free. As long as you're on mobile.
Paul McGee (3:12)
Okay, well, let's talk about the good Yu-Gi-Oh stuff, because there are some really cool Yu-Gi-Oh news stories that have happened. I think the best one would probably be this Yu-Gi-Oh Art Works PV animation.
This is so cool.
Alec Fields (3:27)
The cruelest thing they've ever done to us.
Paul McGee (3:29)
Yeah, so basically there's a Kazuki Takahashi Yu-Gi-Oh Art Museum sort of exhibit. It's called the Yu-Gi-Oh original art exhibition. It's in Japan, and you have to basically get like tickets kind of in a lottery in order to be able to go and stuff. So it's not really something that most Yu-Gi-Oh players like you or I or probably anybody living in the West, it would realistically be able to go to. However, the cool part is they released this special animation to celebrate it. I guess to sort of announce it.
Tell me about it. What's going on here?
