You know? That's right, yeah.

Speaking of Warner Bros., our last news thing we want to touch on, we talked about this today. And this is where it's half news and half political, because they have a bit of a rant for you. And we're not going to get too political, but we will a little bit, you know?
Because we talked about this in the Discord, I think it's fine. Today, it's not locked, it's not 100% done, but it looks like that Warner Bros. and Paramount are merging. The reason this happened is, so I'm not sure if you... Did you see this at all?
Kirklin (0:30)
I saw, like, memes.
SPEAKER_2 (0:32)
You just gave it all, okay.
Kirklin (0:34)
I never know when you're in the Discord. I don't really know about this. I get, if you tag me, I'll see it.
SPEAKER_2 (0:40)
Right, yes.
Kirklin (0:43)
I'm, like, extremely active in the NFL chat.

So what happened was, obviously, the Netflix thing and then the Paramount came in, they outbid them, but then what happened was, the reason this was getting holed up is because a lot of people were like, whoa, this is going to be a monopoly. It's going to shut down a lot of jobs, X, Y, and Z. There's a lot of antitrust lawsuits going on with different states and everything, California being a big one. So the idea was that there was a certain period they had to get to. And it was something like, if they didn't get to it, they would have to wait until March to do this trial. And if they had to wait till March, Paramount would have to pay like $7 million a day in some sort of fees or something.
It was like a hang up for like we did the deal. I can't remember because I've heard this before, but I'm not like the master of this type of stuff. So if you want a business one, go there. But there was just some big fee that if Paramount didn't get this deal done in a certain time, they're going to be paying somewhere to, like I said, $7 million a day, which is like, sure, it's a big company, but you have to pay that till March. I think it added up to like, I think the final total would have been like when the trial started Kirklin, it would have been like they would have paid another $650 million. And that doesn't even mean like when the trial starts, it would stop. They'd still be paying those fees. And then plus, if it didn't go their way, they would have paid $650 million plus for nothing, just to like wait for a trial. So they really want to get some of these deal things done. And then of course, you know, a lot of people, guilds, people, oh, we're going to stop it. You know, it's a bad thing. All these people, we're going to stop it. You know, certain people in political parties, oh, we're going to stop it. We're going to, you know, fucking Gavin Newsrom. You know who Gavin Newsrom is, other than the fucking memes and stuff? He's like supposed to be like Bizarro Trump. He's like Democratic Trump where he's like, oh, we can't make things about being woke. He's always sharing meme. It's, is it Newsrom or Newscom? Just put in Gavin News and it's going to come up.
So anyways, and he was a big, Newsom.
Kirklin (2:37)
Okay, I know, I've heard of this guy.
SPEAKER_2 (2:39)
Why the fuck did I, where did I go?
So he was supposed to be like all the, yeah. So he was supposed to be a big defender of this, right? But apparently the idea is that he kind of folded in as well. Just get it done. And that's where for me, it's like, what are you laughing at?
Kirklin (2:56)
I love it. I just love it.
SPEAKER_2 (2:58)
Well, and that's where it's just like, I think we've talked about this a bit off cast. This will get like a preview in some conversations we've had, right? But so it sucks. I feel like this was always going to happen, but it sucks. And we'll have to see what happens because, oh, I guess I should tell you what the, so what happened Kirklin is they had to make a couple concessions paramount. They had to make some concessions to get this deal to go through before they went to trial. Let me pull them up. And to me, it's very like wrist slappy sort of things like, hey, if you don't do this, you're in big trouble here. So this is the thing. So they have to operate in California because at one point, they're threatening to paramount was threatened to move, like leave California. So they have to do that. They cannot sell paramount studios or one studio lot. So like the sets, all that stuff, okay.
