The Auburn Express

September 14, 2026

Auburn football might be better than people thought after Week 1, and Byrum Brown might be the biggest reason to reconsider some of those early opinions. Auburn followed its close win over Baylor by taking care of business against Southern Miss.

Mike G (3:20)

Like, he had to go out to Oregon, and, you know, he had to, you know, come to Auburn and go some different places before he played his best year of college football. But coaching has a lot to do with that. It does. Coaching has a lot to do with that. I think that Byrum Brown and Alex Golish, nobody's questioning that pair of QB and coach.

Now, kind of moving on from quarterback. Guys, I, for a second week straight, I am more impressed with this group of receivers.

I think Auburn has playmakers at receiver. Would Jeremiah Coger be Auburn's best receiver?

Ike Jones (3:57)

He was the guy I had pegged in the preseason where I was like, he's got all the receivers.

Mike G (4:04)

Ceaser, what did you see? Coger is a playmaker.

Ike Jones (4:08)

Yeah. Yeah.

He's actually one of the people who I was expecting to go off in this game because of the attention that Singleton would get from, the best defender is lining up against Singleton. You have a killer opposite of Singleton and Coger who's going to hurt you. In a game like this, and Coger did at times. Again, I hate that that call was, they took away the touchdown that he caught in the end zone, beautiful throw by Byrum Brown.

Mike G (4:36)

That made him 100-yard receiver. How long was that touchdown they took off?

Because he ended with 57 yards.

Ike Jones (4:43)

No, it wouldn't have been. I don't think it was that long of a throw.

Mike G (4:49)

It had to have been a 43-yard throw.

Ike Jones (4:52)

Yeah, it was, I don't know. It had to have been close, but he went off. He went off.

I see someone in the chat mentioned him. Man, Spencer?

Mike G (5:04)

The Sean Spencer? Wow.

Ike Jones (5:06)

We've been hearing good things about him in the off season. I see. I get it.

He's going to be something else when he truly gets his shot. He's a really talented receiver. It was good to see more guys in the Receiving Corps get opportunities. But to answer your question, Mike, yes, Coger has all the tools to really be Auburn's best receiver, NBA top SEC receiver in my opinion.
