WARNING: Auburn’s Problems Aren’t Going Away Without Drastic Change | Auburn Podcast
The Auburn Express
September 21, 2026
Auburn football is three games into the season, and some of the same concerns that appeared early are becoming much harder to ignore. The biggest question offensively is simple: What does Auburn consistently do well?

Jägermeister knows that there's people who watch the game and people who know the game. Knowers know rivalries aren't heated. They're ice cold.
They know rankings change. Traditions don't. And they know that when you drink Jägermeister on game day, you drink it ice cold. Otherwise, you just don't know the game.
So drink it ice cold or don't drink it at all. Jägermeister, damn that's cold. Drink responsibly. Jägermeister liqueur 35% alcohol by volume. Imported by Mass Jägermeister US, Wide Plains, New York.

So there's a lot of work, there's a lot of work to do on both sides of the ball in this one. There's a lot of work to do.
Ike Jones (3:15)
We're gonna get back to the defense. Let me ask you offensively. It seemed to me that the coach shouldn't, even though Auburn wants to be a team that runs the football, it seems as though, and we saw this happen last week against Southern Miss, they tried to establish the passing attack with Byrum Brown in the first half. It's like they wanted to start out throwing the ball. And obviously, against Southern Miss, you could do that. And it just seemed like Auburn never really tried to get things going in the running game until it was too late.
Yeah, because they just came out throwing a lot at times, and it was just, it was interesting to me what they were doing, especially the first drive, first couple of drives when it went three and out. Like they were really trying to do some things in the passing game.
Mike G (4:09)
In the past, Ceaser, we've been able to separate, I think, how the Auburn's offensive lines perform in pass pro versus run blocking. Meaning, they've been below average at pass protection, but still able to run block well enough for the backs to get off. They seem to be struggling with both now. That's super concerning.
It's super concerning that they seem to be struggling on both parts of that. There's not a discipline alone in this offensive line that I feel like they're consistent with. And as a result, and Golesh used this term in the post game, which I completely agree with, in response to my question about the run game, he said, there's no rhythm to our offense.
SPEAKER_7 (4:56)
Well, there is no rhythm to it.
Mike G (4:59)
It's hard to do it. Yeah. I mean, you can drop back and Byrum will make a crazy play here or there well enough. He's good enough of a playmaker to do what he did to make that look close on the scoreboard.
But you didn't win. And you didn't win because you didn't find any sort of rhythm to your offense until the it off!
